Does your Oly 12-40mm 2.8 lens squeak?

Hello,

I purchased a Oly 12-40mm 2.8 lens and if you turn it slowly starting at 12mm it will squeak a little until about 16mm. It will do this also when going from 16mm down to 12mm. It almost sounds like the plastic lens barrel contacting with maybe the weather sealing in the lens? It only bothers me while recording video, but i figured I would ask anyway.

Mine is squeak-free!

Mine doesn't squeak and that manual focus thing also doesn't happen to me. I take ~3k shots in a long session and the focus always works.

That sounds like the lens has more potential issues than just a plastic-on-plastic rubbing that creates the occasional squeak. Time to exchange it with the retailer (if you just bought it) or send it in for warranty service, before it develops more character than you want to deal with.
