I mostly use EVF to shoot. Then if I want to change something in the menu it shows up in EVF rather then screen. I have to switch view mode to screen for menu and then back to EVF to shoot every time. I would like to see menu on the screen even if I shoot in EVF, is there a solution for this? Thanks.

P.S. playback is still using screen, but not the menu.

This problem came up some time ago. No solution offered. It's probably too late to hope that Fuji solves it in firmware.

I use the menu through the EVF. (The only good thing about that is that you can adjust the diopter to its sharpest setting for you by having the menu up in the EVF.)

The View Mode button has 3 settings:

EVF

LCD Screen

Eye Sensor.

If you select Eye Sensor then the camera will work exactly as you want.

I second that. Eye sensor is actually pretty good and makes life much easier

Thanks for suggestions. I actually tried eye sensor, it semi-works for me. Two things:

1) switching to EVF when I bring camera to my eye has noticeable lag. In EVF mode I can immediately reframe and click.

2) probably it's just my perception, but it's somewhat confusing to have screen working while I'm not shooting and holding a camera especially if it's getting dark outside. I know EVF would be on too, but it's inside the camera, not visible. Also not sure if back screen burns battery faster than EVF.

I will probably give it another try, see how it works out.

I know it's not likely to happen, but that would be great if they can add explicit settings around modes to configure what screen shows what: menu/playback in EVF/Screen/Sensor.

E2 does not even have 'view mode' button :(

That might solve the immediate problem, but at the expense of a large increase in power consumption since ALL displays, including the EVF, will now show up on the LCD when your eye isn't on the VF. The X-T1 works in much the same way, and I also find this quite irritating. I, too, would love to be able to separately specify where the menus are displayed, independent of how the camera is set up to compose or playback images. Having to fiddle with the display button every time you view a menu (or squint thru the viewfinder to do it) seems like a fairly poor aspect of what is otherwise an excellent UI.
