Hello, i wish to buy a Ring flash to make macro pictures

with my Canon 10D. DO you have some models to suggest to me (not to expensive, i am a poor canonian :)

Vivitar 6000 ringflash appears to meet the bill -- £92.50 so cheap.
It claims to be TTL, but how well that works with a 10D is unclear to me.
Try googling it for more information: there's a thread on
Fred Miranda's site in their cache.

There's a Sunpack DX-12R which is in the same price league as the
Canon MR-14EX.

Hi Brian:

In Henry's add on e-bay it claims that the Vivitar is not recommended for digital cameras. It is not e-ttl or thyristor.

I believe the Sunpak($199 US) is 1/2 the price of the Canon($450) @
Adorama
You need a Canon module: at B&H it's $305 including the module
(and a $35 adaptor ring for the macro lens)
Here it's £290, and the Canon is about £350.

Can anyone point to a tutorial shooting with ring flash? I used a ring flash for photo of small objects, had horrible shadows. (often two, to the right and to the left of object)

The Canon ring flash has two tubes (semi-circular) and allows each to be set to different output from the other, for more flexibility.

Canon ring flashes fit in a groove on Canon macro lenses. Maybe you don't
need that, but let's compare like with like.

Look like we get a relatively good deal on Canon flashes in the UK.
