GH 4 test?

GH 4 test?
Wild guess… because it doesn't say Nikon, Canon, Sony or Olympus on the front?
The GH4 is pretty much unique in the field as far as I can see -- and by that, I mean the WHOLE field of SLR/CRC cameras.

It should be a prime target for review, I think.

They did review the GH3, publishing in mid-April last year. Was that a reasonable date? But that should not stop them reviewing the GH4 which is a significantly different camera, it seems to me.

Then there was the G6 preview which never got to the review stage…

Cheers, geoff

GH 4 test
The still image quality is identical to all the other current gen mFT cameras { give or take a fraction of a stop either way} . The key advances seem to be a step up in AF performance { not something DPreview are renowned for testing} and the 4K video which is also not their specialty.

The times, they are a'changing. Maybe slowly, but surely.

Stand in line. Any idea how many cameras that aren't canon or nikon are in front of you?

"We're almost done with the first installment of a comparison review of the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4, and Sony Aa7s, and we're continuing to shoot with Fujifilm's new high-end standard zoom for the X-series, the XF 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR. Work continues too on the D810 and Sony SLT-A77 ii."

DPR does thorough reviews. So, it takes longer for reviews to come out. It is also a free for anyone to visit and view site. So, it has to balance many things in its reviewing priorities. Viewer interests (hits) will be important, as that will affect income, but M43 camera owners and video taking people are a small minority. Relationships with major advertisers and other interested parties, Amazon, Canon, Nikon, Sony, no doubt will affect priorities too, as well as the effort and skills required for testing particular cameras. The GH4's video is not a trivial thing to test. And there can be more less obvious reasons for some cameras being reviewed later or earlier, and some have to do with money, not how much interest the product is to photographers. For example, the Sigma 60mm f/2.8 is the most fantastic lens and should be really interesting to M43 as well as other mirrorless system owners, as sharp as any M43 lens (based on Lenstip reviews) and as cheap as the cheapest lens, at $200 with case and hood), but it has never been reviewed here if ever. The GH4 on the other hand will definitely be reviewed.

But that doesn't really explain it. For example, they recently produced their full review of the FZ1000 which wasn't even ANNOUNCED when the GH4 was released.

The FZ1000 is a different category altogether, a bridge or superzoom, and those cameras are treated and reviewed differently. Not exactly the same standards or team. There is a clout factor due to business size (camera), and we have in order - Canikon, Sony, than M43, Fuji, then Samsung and Pentax.
