Really impressed with this camera and think it will be better than the current cameras I have and will be able to downsize to just one camera. I have an A57 with two leneses, and S110, and an FZ35. Any idea on ship dates for this? Just want to make sure I have my gear sold on time.

Panasonic is shipping to vendors this weekend. Why not wait to see how good it really is before you put all your eggs in one basket? Within a couple weeks we should know a lot more.

I know I shouldn't put all of my eggs in one basket. I am just really excited about this camera. My son is 17 months old, and the video quality looks superb, much better than what I have with the A57. I would also like not carrying around a large camera bag with my lenses. Starting to sell some stuff now. The only other camera that I may wait around for is the LX8 if it has the same sensor as the FZ1000. Or instead of selling the rest of my gear, I can start drivng with UBER>

IMO we know more from the well-documented reviews like the one here at DPR than from the inputs of most users -- many of whom may post comments and images before they really learn the camera. Happens with other new cameras, and it will in this case, too.

I agree the FZ1000 is likely going to be a hit, but my comment was more about getting rid of multiple cameras for one when it might be more prudent to sell one or two to fund the new toy and then make a determination if the FZ1000 can truly replace them all.

And we will likely learn of new caveats that reviewers did not report as users get their hands on the camera.

You learn something new every time you press the shutter

I get what you're saying, Bruce -- particularly because i have an FZ1000 and it may replace my GH4 system (in which I have around $7000 invested). I find my shooting patterns have changed over the years and it may well be that the FZ1000 will do all I need today.

But I'll make that decision based on my experience with the FZ1000, not any review nor inputs from other users whose priorities are not the same as mine. Until I know the FZ1000 will do it all for me, the GH4 stays.

Should have said "ordered". Don't have an FZ1000 as yet.

Phil,

I'm hoping the fZ1000 will replace my Sony a77 and one of my Pany m43 cameras. I don't have as many lenses as you do and no plans to ever buy any others. The interchangeable lens thing wears me out. If I had more lenses, it would just make it more likely that I'd have the wrong one on when I wanted to get the shot.

With all the talk of sensor size, IQ, cropping, etc., sometimes I think we lose sight of one of the huge advantages of a "Bridge" camera,......it always has the right lens mounted.

I'll be watching early user reviews with great interest,....including yours. I'm optimistic.

Jack
