Just curious how others store their gear... (pictures would be cool)

I'm personally terrible at keeping organized, I have draws filled with lenses, step-up rings, caps..etc..

I've just spent a full day culling and reorganizing 15 years worth of camera related accumulations. It was as tedious as tedious comes. I've attempted it several times in the past year, but I was determined to see it through this time (of course, it was a glorious day outside, adding to the challenge). In the end I've freed up space and compartmentalized all the goods still useful (long or short term), and made some space in the process.

How long this organization will remain is the question, but in the meanwhile everything has a place, and everything is in its place, for whenever I might call upon 'em. My two main camera bags are at the foot of my desk, still, but changing contents is now not the hunt and cuss routine it would sometimes become. ;)

Unless in a very humid environment where humidity control is necessary, it's not so important how things are stored IMO, rather how things are organized.

Mine wouldn't!

All over the place! Within about a yard (metre) of where I'm sitting I can see two unbagged cameras (one digital, one 35mm rangefinder), the bag that one should be in, a loose lens, a long zoom sitting in its case, a camera bag with my go-to Fuji outfit (body + 3 lenses), my main tripod, sundry chargers...

In a set of drawers (where most of the other kit should be) are two 35mm SLRs, a couple of folding 120 (6x6cm) cameras, a few Nikon mount lenses that I also use adapted on my Fuji, macro focusing rail, filters, film, more chargers, a table-top tripod, extension tubes...

I keep meaning to get some foam to make shaped inserts in the drawers to stop the stuff inside rolling around.

One day!

I keep essentially everything in one of two large backpacks designed for cameras and gear. (One is a ProMaster and the other is a Lowepro). Both are large and heavy with everything in them, but they make for secure storage and protection. Either will fit in an overhead of an aircraft (but the big Lowepro just barely does so.)

When I travel (which is often), I can simply grab the backpack and not have to worry whether I have the lenses and accessories I'll need, since they're all in there already.

The pack stays with me as I travel or in my vehicle. If I'm facing a long arduous hike, I pare down the gear to save weight, and stow the remainder in my vehicle or hotel until I return, at which time it all gets stowed back into the backpack.

The little that I have is wherever I put it last. I have to hunt for it each time.

I store all my lenses and camera bodies in a dry cabinate. But then, I live in a hot and humid climate.

All other accessories, such as batteries and chargers (far far too many) are stored in a set of drawers I bought.

One large padded bag for all my Nikon gear. A medium backpack for all my Fuji gear. There are sufficient pockets in both bags for the associated filters and accessories.

From those, I will take what I need and place it in a sling bag or medium shoulder bag depending on the situation.

Despite this, I have things on my computer desk or by the door because that's where I placed them down after a day of shooting.

My motto: "A place for everything, and everything all over the place."

Right now it's in one Kata 3N1 30PL, one Lowe roller suitcase, one big old Tamrac bag (flash gear for several cameras), and then some plastic bins, big and small, and one clow cabinet (printer supplies). That doesn't include the tripods, dollies, light stands, lights, backdrops & stands. Lordy. And I just got rid of several cameras and 8 lenses, plus a little other jazz.

I need a walk in closet.
