Sad day: I am contemplating selling the FA limiteds (31/43/77). Hardly used them. MIJ. I got them from B&H saving for months as a student (7yrs ago) thinking I would use them on FF to get the real focal lengths. No complaints except for PF in super bright situations. Uber sharp wide open and magical in uniform light conditions.

Why should I sell: 1) I tend to use my X100LE 90% of the time these days - bought it used to experiment and got got hooked; now the Pentax K-5ii + limiteds sit at home (didn't realize how much I like the 35ish focal length, hence the desire to use the FA31 on a FF) 2) I can't see Pentax doing a FF which I want to try out for the shallow DOF 3) On a A7/s/r I would not get AF.

Why should I not sell: 1) FA31 on a Pentax FF would be awesome for me, given my liking towards the X100 2) Could compromise and get a sony FF body and have my FA31 perform 3) These are MIJ and won't be able to find them at least on B&H Adorama etc ... I know my copies are excellent.

Opinions?

If I were you, I would at least wait until the Photokina camera show in September to see what is new coming from Ricoh. Who knows? Ricoh might surprise us with a FF this year.

Thx, I have been holding on to them one Photokina after the other :( .... All I care is to have a light tight box with a simple FF sensor .... I wonder why this is so hard. The FA31 will come to life .... APS-C doesn't do justice. I tried it on a film body, with costco processing and was very impressed.

What do you like the most about the Fuji?

Its not difficult to get hooked on Fuji, I have to admit ...

I am holding onto my K5IIs for with a 55-300 HD WR, FA 24-90, FA 85 soft, and DA 18-135 - perhaps, but its the Fujis that get the real use (X-E1 & X-E2)

........this seems to be the closest we have gotten lately. :-D

I smiled to myself when I saw this thread come up, as it's almost Photokina time and was waiting for the inevitable 'what's new from Pentax this year' ?

It would seem that almost everyone is keeping tight lipped this year, all the rumour sites have had to live on crumbs and even Dpr is just bringing out 'interest' stories to pan out the quiet time that's happened this year until we get told of all the new products.

The threads have all been about day to day photo's, issues about SR, who's selling gear at what price..... Seems the strangest time for awhile...... possibly we are all c o m p l e t e l y over speculation and just waiting till Asahi Man pipes up or we get that sudden announcement ???

But with lenses like those, you'll will however kick yourself when, or if Pentax does bring out that camera which we no longer speak of......... Yes, wait till photokina, then sell the lenses if the dream doesn't come true and leave a little $$$ for the trip to the counsellor when it suddenly happens a few months later.

Someone will buy those lenses and put them to good use. Right now they are being wasted. Time to move on.

How much do you want for them? ;-)

Yup, that's exactly it! Many likes!

Btw, the 21 ltd, even though it's only f/3.2, is an awesome little lens.

Don't sell them Deb - just send the gems to me! I'll look after them for you!

Re the 21mm-- I agree. I've been using mine a lot recently and it is a charmer.

Yes , I waited and waited too , then just this year upgraded from the *istD to the K-3 ( well I did also buy a cheap used K-20D in between , then gave it to my daughter ) so I expect the FF will come this year .

I plan to collect the set of FA Limiteds as funds allow too , currently getting good results with my SMC-M primes and the couple of DA Limiteds I have just now .

With kind regards

Unless you are really short of cash, I would keep them. You would never be able to re-acquire them for the money you would get. In fact, if a FF Pentax did appear, the cost of re-acquisition would go up even more. Just make sure you are storing them properly and use them from time to time.

And one's mood changes - you could even find that you regain the pleasure of using them on the K5.

1) Light weight and a more compact kit. X100(s) is 430g, X-E1/E1+27mm is around that. The X100 is always with me

2) Lenses are awesome (mechanical/optical) and are not expensive during sales - like Pentax but much faster (f/1.4, f/1.2 etc). More choices as you go wide. The output of the primes are as good as the limiteds (I have experience with the DA15 + 40XS + FA limiteds). For example, I loved the DA15, only wish it was a f/2.8

3) Film look (no need to sit with LR/Silkypix/Nik/VSCO for regular pics). Velvia gives me great results SOOC.

4) Retro look and all mechanical controls via dials. Makes me feel I am using a film cam

I think holding on to a good body and DA55-300 is a gr8 idea. The lack of AA on the K-5iis is clearly an advantage.

That would be exact situation I am afraid of. I think of that and I balk and remove the ebay listing ... done it a few times :)

Don't sell! I almost never sell a good lens. Classics like these original Limiteds will hold their present value or appreciate over time even if Pentax never brings a FF digital to market.

If you saved for months as a student to buy them and id, then why sell now that you have more cash ?

You kept them several years, a couple more ( hopefully less) will not harm you!

You can use them on a Canon 6D, with focus confirm adapter.

On get a "Metabone" adapter to recover the angle of view...

Myself, I'm happy with my FA43 on a K5IIs. Sharp, nice bokeh, and, character too.
