If this price hit around $1600 US at some point I would jump all over it. Maybe after the new leica is announced next month it might drive the X-Vario price down even further. I can hope can't I?

I just bought one from Amazon for $1740 US. Will get it next week. It was under Amazon warehouse deals. Title was "like new" with damaged packing. Looking forward to receiving it!it's below $2000 now. ($1974.67 on amazon, to be precise.)If this price hit around $1600 US at some point I would jump all over it. Maybe after the new leica is announced next month it might drive the X-Vario price down even further. I can hope can't I?

No, I don't think it comes directly from a Leica dealer, but Amazon Warehouse doesn't deal in Grey Market items. I can always return it for a full refund in case it doesn't work out.
Can one check the X-vario for actuations? Is there a way to do that in the software?

The 2 years is the Leica warranty. Much preferred and worth a few bucks over any seller guarantee.

Personally I'd be happy with an X3 with a 50mm f/2 lens and well-calibrated MF markings.
I'd definitely buy that if it was around 18,000 RMB.
I really want an XV but I feel I would have to sacrifice too much of my shooting to justify the price. It's a pity.

Leicas will never be a Sam's Club item.
Any offers of a cheapo" Leica are suspect. Buyer Beware..
