First time that I have had my a6000 on vacation with the family. Will add some new ones as I take them. Some portraits, landscapes, wildlife and pets

I am very much an amateur and any suggestions will be taken well. Thanks guy!

Ill add some more and hopefully more interesting shots in the near future. There are some flocks of pelicans, 2 Bald Eagles and some deer on our property so I'll be looking to get some good shots of them

Thanks for any feedback, positive or negative.....

Name the 4th: Dad, body please - can't do much with lens only!

thanks guys, that 2nd one is one of the sharpest pictures I have shot. I think i nailed the focus on the face and got nice separation from the background with DOF.

The 1st shot I was bummed I missed the eye focus. I havent figured out how to reliably get "eye focus" with AF

and my 55-210 doesnt have the new lens firmware... still need to figure out how to update the that with the a6000.

thanks again for the responses

Try not to shoot wide open, those lenses do much better closed down a couple stops, and you will also have fewer out of focus pictures. Actually, A6000 does quite well on full auto, use it until you learn the other modes.

you might nailed the focus, but your exposure is off. Colors seem a little flat due to the bright sunlight, so I added a bit of pop. The A6000 is a great camera, enjoy.

I like 2nd shot the best as well. I am thinking of getting the 55-210mm but feels it is not telephoto enough. So I am wondering what TC do you have to go along with it?

Thanks for the exposure help, ill look at it more closely to see the difference. I dont think i have an good eye for exposure :(

The Teleconverter is http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009OAFJ8/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

you will need a step up ring 49mm to 58mm and it will vignette at about 60mm so it is really meant to shoot at the long end of the lens.

Okay here are a couple more that I think turned out well.

My wife riding her horse

Sunset out the back porch with HDR in camera

I know the landscapes the saturation is too high.... but my father in law liked them that way and the HDR setting in camera had super high saturation... as well as the really green grass with direct sunlight

and feedback would be great! again... i am a super amateur just trying to learn to take better photos :)

Thanks guys!

Very good! You have some nice compositions, angles and have captured the moment well in several of these shots. When I see pics of other peoples family I tend to find them boring, but with yours you have made the shots interesting to all viewers. I think you enjoyed taking them & it shows.

The first pic which is slightly oof is nice enough to forgive that little miss, it seems a bit low contrast though, too white. So a little adjustment would improve it. A few others seem a bit bright/ low contrast too, so something to keep your eye on.

Your son on the grass, reaching & in hammock are super shots! :-)

riding the horse is very nice too & with grandad looking at horses. That would perhaps have been better if it were a little more over gramps shoulder & we could see the horse better, but still that's easy for me to say after the fact.

i don't think you need to do much in terms of taking the images - you are doing well. just be aware of how the exposure is & do some correction after if it's a bit off.

I am happy to see you using sel16 & getting results. Everyone like to complain about that lens & sure , it has issues, but when I see nice shots like the hammock then who cares about perfect corners :-)

With those shooting parameters, it should be almost impossible to get such a soft image unless something is broken, or you accidentally left the camera in manual focus mode and had previously been shooting macros.

Thanks for the kind words. I definitely realize my ignorance when it comes to correct white balance, exposure and contrast so thank you for your help with it.

I don't seem to "see" the difference well and need to do some homework with it.

As for the 16mm, I bought it 3-4 years ago with my 5n to do aerial photography since it is so light, it worked well for that but you do see mushy corners. Just something to remember and I don't put people on the edges since then they would be really soft.

I'll have to look at the exif to see which one the other guy was referring to f8 1/500 and soft.

Great first tries at the ph… world.

Soon you will recognize what post processing and good exposure will do. Then you may learn to use lens caps when handling or letting toddlers handle your lenses.

Welcome to the Forum; we all grow up, so good luck and you will improve your images a lot with a bit of practice and a little work.

lol.. not telephoto enough? it's a freeking telescope in a small package.. efl is 315mm, and 535 if you can pick up a 1758 teleextender.. Coming up from a 16mp nex-f3 to 24 mp on the a6000 makes life even better..

(nice pictures BTW to OP :) )

thanks!

yeah i do find it to be a good amount of zoom.... but it would be nice to have the F4 200mm or even something with 2.8 or so...

I do find the auto focus slow, but i need to update the firmware on it still

Wow. Wyoming is so beautiful. Too bad I didn't have a chance to visit there while I was in the States.

Thanks for the advice on DH1758. I guess I will have to see if one pops up at local auction site since it is not available in Asia.

Also, just courious, in the 7th picture, is the cowboy printing a mark on angus cattle for management purpose? Never experience a farm life before

yes the mark is generally referred to as a "brand" and in areas where cattle can roam free in large areas with multiple herds it can be a challenge to track them.

these were all "yearlings" or about a year old and will be moved to a higher altitude pasture for grazing during the summer months.

I live in California but my in-laws have property here in Wy and we get to spend 2-3 weeks out here each summer.

Yellowstone National Park and Teton National Park are 2 amazing and truly unique places in the world.
