The different in-camera film simulations only work in jpeg mode. If you shoot in jpeg, yes, you will get the SOOC fuji colors. When shooting RAW, which is what we are talking about, YOU are the one that will edit your photos the way you want.I was also interested in the Fuji X ... System, because of its unique colors generally referred to as Fuji Like, to me they are more film like.Look, based only on my personal experience, I suggest you try Capture One Express because it is highly recommended here, i haven't tried it myself but some say it is very very good for those pleasing unique colors. Based on what i have seen from (other raw converters) Lightroom does not produce AUTHENTIC Fuji colors. I think other RAW converters have more pleasing colors.I don't have lightroom but I'm considering it. Do those profiles really reproduce the 'pleasing' fuji colours? When processing Fuji RAW's in lightroom 5.4 go down to camera calibration on the right-hand side of the Develop module screen & click on arrows next to 'Profile' which normally sets to Adobe standard as a default - the Fuji profiles for Astia etc should then appear.
In the end YOU are the one that is going to decide what YOU like best, and that includes the type of workflow and ease of use.
I personally freaking LOVE Photo Ninja's color output. The reds I find amazing. Lightroom's are more dull but in a way much more "natural", which it not a bad thing at all.
From what i have seen, ALL converters have plus and minuses. I suggest you try all the rest before Lightroom. If I was in your same shoes that is what i would do. One of the reasons i got LR5 is because i already had LR4, so it was not so expensive to upgrade. But if i start from scratch i would probably choose something else.
By the way, LR5 is perfectly fine for my S5 pro camera, but not so much for Xtrans files.
I was given to understand, that the colors came directly from the camera that way, from its various modes present in the camera itself, including black and white. Am I mistaken in that assumption ?? This thread seems to imply otherwise.
Lightroom 5 does have those "film simulations" also, but is not the same thing man!
I hope i answered what you were asking.
