I was out with friends intending to shoot a ballet series by a waterfall. The ladies got sidetracked by a warm swimming pool -- we never did hike to the waterfall.

I took my camera to the pool area (I did not get into the water - I already have had my bath for the spring season) ... the general space brought into mind (for no reason that I can think of) some of the feeling that I interpreted from some of Misha Pedan's images -- and I followed the unexpected direction. I happen to (at least currently) like this ... and will try for more.

Lovely set and lovely ladies. I like where your going with the first one but the cross lines are stopping my eye from connecting the ladies which I believe was your intention. For me the second is nearly perfect only thing I can think of I would have liked is both their shadows. great shot and well done processing as far as I can see. the composition in the third is the better of the two shots with one in the pool and one out and its also nearly perfect well done. the last has a lot of energy but for me its not in the same league as three and four. some first class work

I think the last one has a strangeness to it that's very appealing. It has a certain mood and my eye goes back and forth between the two women, with their puzzling expressions.

Cheers,

Thanks John... your comments are appreciated ... these are certainly different than I would normally shoot.

Thanks for this perceptive comment. You have echoed exactly what I feel when looking at this image.

You may have been motivated by Misha's images, but IMHO Misha has a long way to go to equal your work. All your images make an immediate impact and are superb! :))))

My Best

Thank you for the compliment ...

Certainly Misha's work is different than mine ... but I do like it ... his "immediate impact" is definitely more subtle and requires a bit of reading but I do think his images have a very interesting story to tell.

Tony, very interesting set. I list below the two that I liked the best.

It is good to experiment, I hope to see more from this type of approach.

Best, D

P.S. Is that Kat? Is she with you all the time? :-)
Thanks D.... It is indeed fun to experiment with a different "way of seeing". Misha's style of visual separation and composition-within-a-composition is very interesting to explore.

Indeed that is Kat in the bikini --- I do like shooting quite often with her and she likes to be in front of the camera. It is always fun.

Tony,

The two above are my favs. The first one is a superb composition - you've made the geometry and the light work incredibly well. The second is has a stillness to it that is remarkable.

Well done!

Tony,

Love these images, especially nos. 6, 5, 4 and 1. Masterful composition and wonderful use of light. Really nice.

Best,

Joe.

...Is that "master" attempted-fabricated "aura" so blinding as to hypnotically preclude you to see that you've created what he's constantly failing to?

Good grief...

Thanks Raaj... One of the thing I like about shoot around water is, as you say, the "stillness" that it can give. When you have good lighting, things can be very fine indeed. This day was a lucky "mistake" -- and I did not have to hike !

Thanks Joe, I was most fortunate that the natural light in the pool was exceptionally cooperative.... just one of those things we are blessed with on occasion.

Thank you for the very strong comment ... appreciated. Sometimes a student does learn from a teacher :)
