Only one camera

The Olympus OMD EM-1. It can be set up to operate as a compact camera with a pancake lens, or expanded with seriously big lenses, and everything in between.

Except he photographed an E-M5. :P

According to sales data, and in light of the responses so far, it seems that (much to my chagrin) m4/3 cameras are more popular in DPReview forums than they are in the rest of the photography community.

Polaroid SX-70 and a pallet of film with a freezer

I own an EM-1 and i never loved any camera like this..
So I understand why you love it...
but I I totally loved it when you post a picture of the EM-5 taken with a Nikon D800 and say the you love the EM-1.

Your own picture shows D200, not D800. BIG diff. ;)

An APS-C DSLR with the high ISO performance and autofocus capabilities of the 5D MkIII.

What will you do ? I assume you want light casual camera. Then it is Fuji x100s

If u want one of a thing, it always DEPENDS. !

The new Pentax 645Z.

If you could have only one camera, which one would it be?
Best in class color depth and dynamic range, plus excellent low ISO performance.

Would have to be a Minolta SRT-303b.

Fully mechanical and I have a bunch of lenses for it. So when that solar flare strikes and y'all electronics stop working I'll still be out there shooting and processing film in coffee. :)

A P&S worked fine for my use for years. I could make do with one in a future with a one camera law.

So one camera is limiting. Therefore, I want my one camera to be a camera I can take anywhere, all the time. One of the waterproof and shockproof compact cameras would fit me the best. I have a Lumix TS-25 but I hear the AW100 is a better camera so that is my pick.

On my motorcycle rides, kayaking, travel, going shopping, etc, it would be more handy (if less artistic) than a top of the line DSLR, like my T5i :)

Camera is regularly kept in my pocket where it sometimes gets wet.

I love my Summilux with the A7 right now, but I would really like an M7...

Nice compact body, silent shutter, excellent for discreet shooting

UI with dials reminiscent of the old film bodies I used to work with professionally so no issues in that respect for me

Excellent IQ and high ISO, FX so wide angles can still be used at their intended focal length, and if desired limited DoF with longer lenses (and DX crop availible if need arises)

Excellent for use with older manual glass (better balanced with the smaller sized manual lenses, and tweaked grounding glass for better manual focussing)

But still has access to all the options of a modern DSLR, so all kind of automated and programmable features if you're in to that, Nikon AF lenses, CLS etc.

Despite all the internet hate quite adequate AF, even if the central AF pints are the best (same AF module as the D600/610 and on those camera's that seems not such a major issue as with the DF)

Sure, according to some not on the same level as a D3 or D800, but never intended to rival those bodies.

I have all three of them, and if forced to choose between them, I would go for the humble DF
