Wanted to try this shot of an orchid we have in our house. Took it out and put it on the table on the patio. The green is a large bush that is maybe 3 feet behind the flower and I was as close as my Tamron 17-50 would focus.

I'm not sure, but think I'm seeing a bit of a halo in a couple places or am I crazy? That final bud just opened up so I have a bit of a window if anyone else has any suggestions to try. Should I have gone with a deeper depth of field? Different lighting (These were shot with a flash)? Composition? Anyone prefer one to the other?

Andrew your Orchids are indeed beautiful, but I don't think you've done them justice with these two shots..... I am just a novice like you, but the composition really does nothing for them.

How wonderful you grew them at home, least you can reshoot :)

Thanks for sharing .... Skippy

I also have a shot like yours. The next time I get an Orchid. I will try 'focus stacking'. Should work great on an Orchid. Zerene and Helocon both have a free trial program...Brent
