I keep hitting FN button on accident

Thanks for the link, might just have to colour it in :-D

my thumb keeps hitting the Fn button while i'm holding or composing a shot
the lower part of my thumb moves the dial
Sounds like more awareness is needed about what that thumb is doing, rather than redesigning the camera. That should not be too difficult for a ninja :-D

so whats happening is i'm pressing against the wheel with my meaty part which changes the iso which really sucks because it can ruin an image to change iso to 6400 when its not needed

is there a way to disable the wheel turning function?

and i can't figure out if that can be disabled - i take it, its not possible.. i've looked in menus and see no option to disable wheel turning.
Next time you have a problem, include in the subject line the camera model. Help others help you rather than making them wade though a ton of griping just to figure out what camera you are talking about.

If you spent as much time looking for the method to disable the wheel as you've spent on tape and blather, your rear wheel spinning problem would have been solved long ago. The aptly named Custom Key Settings submenu is what you want.

Menu > Gear > 6 > Custom Key Settings > Control Wheel > change from ISO to "Not set".

Done.

Gripe gone.

If you search for "Control Wheel" within the User Guide

... you'll hit upon a hyperlink which takes you to the Custom Key Settings hint within two clicks.

Instead of assuming Sony failed and that you are somehow uniquely bothered by this, how about assuming that Sony would have provided a mechanism to disable the Control Wheel spin inputs when in shooting mode? That's the logical thing to do... because if not, the entire community would be up in arms. This is the very first customization I made to my camera when it came out of the box.

PS if you are wondering why I didn't answer your more vexing question/problem earlier, it's because I simply did not want to wade through all the text and whining the first time I happened along the thread. I stopped reading after seeing rants about the Fn button.

Surprised to see the thread still growing today, I waded through some more.

I'm curious. Ninjapimp, Have you tried either of these solutions?

The first reference must be a misprint in A7 manual, if it's not working. As previously mentioned, it works on A6000.

The A6000 doesn't have a "Control Wheel" presence in "Custom Key Settings".

kev

This might help.
