A new patent from Ricoh, 45/1.8 for the 1/1.7" sensor.

Have no time to check and calculate, but is sounds like a ~200mm equivalent (in 35mm format) or so prime lens, with an aperture of f1.8.

The length of the lens is about 50mm. If it comes, I'd say a welcome and excellent addition to the Q lens lineup.

Wow - eleven elements!

I'd buy one, even though it would probably be about $600 or more.

What happened to the previously announced Q macro-tele?

No one knows .. yet.

It may come, or may not. God knows when. So with the sigh of weariness, I have posted the news above. Ricoh has filled half a dozen patents for lenses that fit 1/1.7" sensor so far, and many for the APS-C too. But none has been released.

So don't hold your breath :-)

... Or you could pick up a Kern Paillard 36mm f.1.9 for $200 and an adapter for $3 on eBay. Very sharp and no vignetting on Q7 ... Here is a sample. Bet the Pentax will not be as sharp as this. Look at 100%.

I forgot to comment.

First, that's a great shot. And also love who you used the lens for it. That said, my main interest in the super fast prime is not portrait (I can do nice portraits with the 06 actually) but low light, street night life.

I would love a re-issue of the 01 as a F1.0 prime.

That would be an exciting addition for sure. Personally, I'd love to see faster apeture lenses in the 24-100mm (equiv) range. Premium compacts like the G16, XZ-2, MX-1, LX7, X20 have this area pretty well covered so stuff south of F2 for sure.
I also have a Kern Paillard Switar f.0.9 13mm. That is a 60mm equivalent on Q7, or 70mm if you crop a little or use it on Q. Here another portrait at f.1.0. with the 13mm and Q7.
