Dear all,

I've been using the FinePixViewer 2.0 since I purchased the 30i.

Recently, I've purchased the S2 Pro and it cames with a new FinePixViewer. It's version 3.1.

I tried to replace the old FinePixViewer in my PC by the new one but I got an error message: 0x80040707.

Did anyone hit this problem before? Please help me.

Edmond

Edmond ,

I have not experienced this problem but I did search the internet for this error with a Google search. There are many who have also experienced this error when loading new software onto their computers and there are just as many - it seems - work arounds. InstallShield does have a website, the one I would most trust in this situation, and does have a bulletin posted on this error; go to http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108167 to read their suggested work around to this problem.

AND Good Luck!

Thanks, but I am still experiencing the below messages when I run the installation of the new FinePixViewer:

Error extracting support files:

Catastrophic failure

Maybe the better solution for you is to "update" your version of FinePixViewer to the current version from the finepix web site instead of using the CD-Rom supplied with your new camera. Go to this website to download the update:

http://www.finepix.de/en/43.html

The website says the update works with Windows version 98 or later (i.e. does not work with Windows 95) and they have updates for Mac OS systems too.

That could mean your cd is corrupt or you ara missing files on your puter needed to extract the program.

If worse comes to worse you could download "regcleaner" (not the windows one) from http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/index.php and remove finepix manualy. Be carefull with this program though, you can muck up more than you repair.

My brother used the regedit program to help me remove all the 'FinePixViewer' entries in the register. He succeeded!

Now I can install the FinePixViewer version 3.1.

Thanks to Digii Cam Pam and Fotonut. :-)

Hi Edmond,

You can try to install your original cd again, if it again gives problems you likely have a corrupt cd. In that case get the shop you bought from or Fuji to supply a new cd.

Or, you can download the last version from the Fuji site, it'll be a big download i suspect. I dont have the link to the download however. A search on the forum might help.
