Images from workshop

Very nice images. I especially like the falls picture called
IMG_6622usm.jpg. I will have to take a trip through Oregon one of
these days. Thanks for sharing...
I agree on 6622 - very nice indeed. What does a boost in saturation do for it (might help the foreground pop)?

Also like 6000 (with a level horizon).

Great shots!

I've seen some similar photos posted at the Betterphoto contest is why I ask. Looks like you had a good time and came back with some good shots. Were you happy with the performance of the 10D?

Paul,

The falls pictures were from Silver Falls State Park near Salem. Coming from the flat lands of Kansas, it was like the Garden of Eden. Definitely add it to your travel plans. I'm already looking forward to going back and spending more time there.

Steve,

Thanks. I was getting tired and didn't even notice the horizon not being level. I appreciate the observation.

Murry,

Yes, Piper was at the workshop. She was kinda hard to miss. There were 6 of us, plus Bryan Peterson so the ratio was excellent for learning. We were always on the go and that suits my style anyway.

As to the performance of the 10D, it was fine in all aspects although there were several linstances where it seemed to overexpose a bit. When we hit the beach, it was overcast and I was able to use a 400 F2.8 with a doubler and it seemed all the pictures were a bit on the "hot side." The histogram certainly comes in handy at times like that. When we were shooting windsurfers on the Columbia River, I was using a 100-300 F5.6L in Servo AI mode and I thought the performance of the lens and camera combo was excellent. Of course I don't have much to gauge it by (other than the D60). The combo seemed to handle the black of the wetsuits and the white of the whitecaps just fine. I'm waiting for some other attendees to process their pics so I can do some comparison. There was one other guy with a 10D (and a boat load of L glass.... can you see me drooling?) while everyone else was using Nikon gear.

I'm certainly up for a repeat trip, but now I want a 100mm Macro lens..... Oh well.

Hello Murry-- Yes, I was at the same workshop, but Jim wanted me to tell everyone that the D100 is much better than the 10D...lol

How are you? Have you posted at BP much lately? I have not been keeping up with everyone like I used to. Would love to see what you've been shooting.

Just looked on a map. Seal Rock is 119 miles South of Cannon Beach along Highway 101. Trip isn't for a few months yet, so you might want to just go along the coast and be on the look out for cool rocks and other features.
No, we were in a lot of places but never anywhere named Seal Rock.
We were at Haystack Rock at Canon Beach. Please post some images
when you get back as I'm working on my return itinerary.
