Sorry if this is on another thread and I guess I'm showing my inexperience here, but will a wrist strap work with my X-T1 + 55-200. I normally use a neck strap. Thanks in advance.

I think it may be too heavy to use the wrist strap with that combination. If it were an X-T1 with XF 27mm or 35mm, that may still work.

Very well. I currently have a Joby wrist strap on my X-A1 + 55-200mm. I also use Op/Tech wrist straps on my Fuji bridge cameras and DSLRs with lenses larger than the 55-200mm, up to about 70-200mm f/2.8. I find neck straps get in the way much more than wrist straps and they are much less comfortable than wrist straps. Unfortunately, I don't think that either of these are compatible with the X-T1 because it uses small diameter eyelets instead of the X-A1's wider lugs so to use them you'd have to probably make your own strap adapter, with maybe something like a short piece of a tough braided nylon cord that would have some advantages over a small metal ring.

Another nice one is Peak Design's "cuff" wrist strap. It uses a detachable attachment button (attached to the camera) and includes a second button so one wrist strap can either be used with two cameras or you can attach both buttons to one camera and then it can easily be used to quickly switch between the "cuff" or with Peak Design's "leash" neck strap. The neck strap is kind of a thin, narrow nylon but this is intentional since they advertise that you can remove it in the field and easily put it in a small pocket. Because of this I wouldn't use it with a heavy camera/lens unless I had one of the padded, uh ... pads that wrap around neck straps to help distribute the pressure. Unlike most of the neck straps I've seen it can be adjusted so that it's much longer than most other neck straps, allowing the camera to ride below your waist. Part of the reason I find neck straps uncomfortable is that they can't be extended to allow the camera to ride below chest high.

I generally hate neck straps. I have been using an opTech wrist strap with my D90 and have ordered a couple different brand wrist straps to use with the much lighter X-T1. The opTech wrist strap has a wider neoprene cuff and while it is quite comfortable, I found it kind of messy using it in the heat. Sweat and sunscreen make the neoprene kind of gross.

Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated. I thought one would be perfect on a pancake lens (which I don't have), but not sure about on heavier lenses. I also have the 18-55.

It depends on how you use wrist straps. I always hold cameras almost entirely by one hand, with very light finger pressure that prevents the hand from tiring. The strap is there mostly for security, if the camera for some unusual reason slips or gets bumped hard enough so that you'd drop the camera if the strap wasn't there. It works for me this way whether the camera is a relatively small P&S, a large P&S bridge camera, my X-A1 or a full frame DSLR like Nikon's D700/D600/D800.

I know what you mean. I wish that Op/Tech didn't discontinue the narrower neoprene that they used to use before it was replaced by the current version. I assumed that it might get wet from perspiration but I haven't noticed any problem yet, so I'd say "no sweat". :)

Actually, I trimmed the first wide neoprene strap to size with scissors. If it was made of leather it would have been much more difficult but the neoprene used by Op/Tech isn't dense, so it trims very easily. I also don't use sunscreen and it's been a long time since I've used any of the oily mosquito/bug repellants so that helps keep the straps from getting gross.

Try these. They work fantastically and their small cord attachments are small enough to fit the Fuji lugs.

I use an Op Tech wrist strap on all my cameras and have for years, regardless of size. They're inexpensive and quite capable. I buy from amazon.com but they're sold elsewhere as well. I have a "Thumbs-up" on my Fuji's and the wrist strap saves the camera if I get a case of the "dropsies."

A comment/question to the various straps that have been posted. I have the standard Gordy's wrist strap and it looks like it fits tighter to the camera than the other straps that have seen posted. I like this, as it allows me to hold the camera with "strap tension" (lightly pushing off the camera with my thumb with the strap tight to the back of my hand). This also comes in handy when using the menu buttons. I've never used another wrist strap. Is this the case on all these "larger" straps?

I know that you are looking for a wrist strap, but this is what I wear when I go out in public with my camera equipment. http://www.amazon.com/Promaster-Lea...97078956&sr=8-1&keywords=promaster+hand+strap I wear this on both my XT-1 and EM-1. This will only work if you have the Fuji's battery pack grip attached to the bottom of your camera. It is not very expensive and they are going to have to carry me with them if they wish to try and steal my equipment as well as I will have to fall along with my camera if it is going to drop and hit the ground. The grip fits tightly around both your hand and wrist. It actually wraps around your wrist.
