Just for fun, I wanted to see how the shadows looked on my three Pentax cameras when pushed extremely in post. All shots were taken in RAW at base ISO (125, 100, 80, respectively) with spot metering on the light bulb. The results are pretty much as expected... I'm floored by how clean the K-5 IIs shadows are.

Thanks for the comparison. I agree that the K5-II(s) shadows can be raised pretty impressively at base ISO!

The Q shows some unexpected banding besides the noise - haven't noticed that before.

Wonder how the Q compares to the Q7. If I find the time - and if I may?! - I might post a comparisons between those two here later.

According to DXOMark, the K-5 II/K-5 IIs has over 14 stops of DR! It's pretty impressive what you can do with it.

The Q has some banding but keep in mind the shadows are pushed much more than you would need in most real-world scenarios. I'd expect the Q7 to be pretty close to the MX-1, as I believe they use the same sensor.
