Disney Cal Adventure Panorama

My sudgestion is keep posting. Your standard of work is very high already!!! By the way, is this just a panoramic crop from a single image or did you actually take several shots and stitch them in a panoramic program? The reason I am asking is that in the evening the sky colour changes very quickly, so you would have had trouble blending it well had you taken several shots.

Keep up the good work

Thanks Luben,

It is actually 14 images taken independantly, over about 1 minute, so the sky had changed only slightly. They were then stitched and enhanced.....

I have found the best trick for stitching is to include about 60% of the previous shot with your next one, thus allowing more accuracy, and also allowing the colours to blend better.

Hope this helped!

One more shot for you.........taken in Hong Kong, Dec 2002.

"14 images taken independantly, over about 1 minute"

I would have expected the shutter speed to have been rather long (i.e. close to 30 seconds). What settings did you have on the camera in order to take the shots so quickly? Also, do you use a panoramic head? I just use a standard tripod head and the paralax error really messes up many of my panoramics. I use Panorama Factory for the panoramas. what do you use?

Thanks for all the feedback. And I love your second shot too!!

What camera did you use to creat the pano and what equipment? I am very interested in doing some panos myself.

Your panos are excellent! Continue to share?

My camera is a 717, and tri-pod is a Canon, not sure of the model no. but it is heavy duty, and stays perfectly flat. Panorama Factory is the software.

Settings were manual - f4, shutter speed of 3 or 4 seconds (can't remember exactly, but know it wasn't as long as expected).

As mentioned, I utilise about 60% of the previous shot in the next shot, but I also turn the camera in portrait format (side on).

Thanks for all your generous comments, confidence is at a high!

I have a couple of other Panoramas from Brazil I will post when I get a chance............

Mad Dog,

1. Did you use a standard lens or a wide angle lens?
2. Did you have to use any panoramic tripod heads?

I currently have a Nikon and I have to use Kaidan's panoramic tripod heads and leveler to make panos.

Antwan,

What's a panoramic tripod head? Should I have a special tripod for taking better panaramic shots ?

Thanks

To give you a brief explanation, pano tripod heads is a piece of equipment that sits between you tripod and camera. It allows the camera to rotate in a level 360 degrees which makes stitching (the seams of each photo) of the 18-2 photos (depending what kind of lens you have) less noticeable..

Now I din't know too much about the F707 & F717. A friend of mine says she can take panos with her F707 without one, which is what I am trying to find out from Mad Dog.

Visit http://www.kaidan.com to learn a bit more about pano tripod heads. Also, visit http://www.panoguide.com to learn a bunch of stuff.

These were both taken with my standard lens, actually zoomed about 10%, which gives slightly more detail in the shots, and when printed, they appear less washed out!

The Tripod I use is very durable, so there is NO vertical movement once that lever is tightened. As long as you are relatively level to the horizon, no other equipment is needed.

Also provided you have plenty of excess in the shot (ie. lots of sky & ground), once you have stitched these shots, and cropped them, the image will appear level.

I hope these answers help.........

Thanks

Mad Dog

Those are nice shots. In the California Adventure, do they give you any trouble about carrying in camera equipment & a tripod, setting it up and taking photos?

Anyone know?

Thanks.
