Hello Folks!

This of course does this country and culture no justice, but I was lucky to be invited to a conference in Kyoto and in my one day of sightseeing on a cold drizzly day, shots these images that I am sharing with you. Japan is of course, a gorgeous place and Kyoto is its crown jewel, so I wish I could've stayed on and seen more. Next time, I hope!

Always happy to hear any genuine C&C!

I believe these ladies are referred to as Maiko, or apprentice geishas. We saw quite a few around temples. This particular maiko, who I find strikingly good-looking, even otherwordly, was posing for people with a reflector dish and some big lenses. I guess I was a bit of a gate-crasher.

A bit of a street scenery on the way to Kiyomizu temple.

More maiko, processed in a dreamy antique sort of a way. Not to everyone's taste I suspect.

Some modern art in Kosatsu station (near Kyoto).

I really like the processing and color, especially #1. Perhaps they all share the same style but this one sticks out to me: the colors of the woman but also the look and feel of the OOF background. How'd you bring out those colors?

Hi Nexu,

It's hard to explain one's PP, but in #1 I basically did some minor cross-processing with channels, blurred the background a bit and introduced some vignetting. Mostly, it was the lucky presence of the reflector and the amazing Otus which took this shot.

Wow! great photography!

A beautiful series, your processing really compliments the subject.

They are very nice. The processing does not overwhelm the images, but it's definitely thoughtful and distinctive. No complaints here!

Those images are magazine worthy. Number one is my favorite. Great shots
