Can anybody recommend web sites with good/extensive/trustworthy lens reviews on them.

I am currently using http://www.photo.net and http://www.photodo.com (but the later hasn't been updated since 2000.)

More specifically, I'd be interested in people's comments on the Sigma 15-30/3.5-4.5 EX for Canon EOS. I am looking for an affordable wide angle option for my 10D (preferably zoom rather than prime.)

Regards

Darius

This one is helpful:

It's for your lens specifically. I just bought it too after trying it out first hand.

For this lens you don't need any review sites: lots of people here in the forum own this lens and are VERY happy with it. Go for it!

I am heading down the same decision line and came across this as well:

http://www.photozone.de/bindex2.html

They rate the Sigma 15-30 fairly poorly!

Interestingly in Aussie i can purchase the Canon 17-40 ($AU1450) for less than the Sigma 15-30 ($AU1537). I am going to hunt around a bit more tomorrow but am trending towards the 17-40 on the basis that is it more solid built, a bit more weather proof, uses a 77mm filter, is smaller and lighter than the Sigma and probably, perhaps (there seems to be lots of different opionions around) better optically - but it seems very important to test the actual lens you are purchasing!

All the best,

Mike

http://www.photographyreview.com has many many user's reviews on pretty much every lens.. and Sigma 15-30 has got a very decent rating.. well, i've heard more praises than taunts about this lens so i believe it is a damn fine lens.. i just wish it used a smaller filter......... =)
