10D mtbf or life expactancy

I just wonder if it is somewhere state how many pictures a 10D can
take. Not that I am worried but it is good to know. Are there
recommended service intervals like on cars?
The shutter will certainly have a life expectancy. I think that for the D30 it was between 20k and 30k frames - my D30 did about 35k without blowing up.

I've heard wildly conflicting stories about this. Some with heresay roots in official documentation seem to indicate 80,000 frames, though many here love to knock down people who expect more than 30,000, and seem to get some kind of sick joy out of it. On the other hand, there have definitely been people on this forum who have gotten > 60,000 out of D30-60.

Canon and Nikon I believe both publicize (sp?) 150,000 for pro cameras (1D, 1Ds, D1x) but I'd be interested in seeing an OFFICIAL edict from Canon regarding D30-D60 or 10D. The 10D has a different shutter than the D60, its mtbf may be greater.

In any case, $300 or so seems to be the replacement cost. (How would you justify that on an Elan 7?)

Thanks

$300 after 30 000 pictures is OK I guess.

Some say 80,000, I want someone in the know to point to something straight from the horse's mouth!

I've never heard the figure as being as high as that. I'm certain it was 30k tops because I was getting worried about mine. I don't know if the D60 and/or 10D have a different shutter assembly - probably not.

Actually they do have different shutters, see Phil's review. As I mentioned before, I've heard various numbers, both in terms of supposed 'rating' and first person accounts above 60,000.

What I'd be interested in seeing is actual published information (published by Canon, that is) of a rating for all or specific non "1" models.
