I remember taking this photograph like it was yesterday and this is exactly how the skin colors looked like at the restaurantThese examples have high levels of saturation, making the skin colours not at all realistic on my monitor.Fuji colors - without even trying - jpegs. Skin colors in particular. Here are examples from my former Fuji X cameras. It might help if you could share an image with the kind of colors you wanted.
Yes but it is a little trickier with skin colors. Here is an example of a pic of my wife I took at Cabo with A7r. Granted I should have bought a flash before my trip but I was just out of $$$ after paying for A7r and 55/1.8FE. I tried to play with colors in it, but this looks like a death mask on her face...The point is that you prefer a certain style of colour, which Fuji provide. Bumping up the Vibrance should give you similar Velvia-like colour on your Sony shots.
These are the best suggestions and probably the reason there was no response earlier. To create a usable photographer-preferanced camera profile that is not automated is not for the faint of heart and has a fairly long learing curve.I suggest getting a Color Checker Passport and using it and its software to create a preset for Adobe Camera Raw.
Or play around in ACR until you get Fuji-like colours, and save that setting.

I guess to each their own. In my case for portraits, I have a lot of details (including unwanted onesI've tried Jpeg too, but did not like the results so far. I also previously never liked the Jpeg results from my previous Sony Nex5n and Nex 7, preferring to shoot these in Raw, as I felt the details were eaten by Sony's aggressive Jpeg software. The only cameras I've shot in straight Jpeg have been Fuji X cameras.I don't have an A7r but I have the NEX-6 system and even though at times I shoot with RAW + jpeg, I end up almost always with the jpeg file. The skintones are warm and very attractive.wow, not a single person can contribute to a conversation on how to achieve good colors from that sensor?

I'm away from my color managed destop environment right now sitting in Dunkin Donuts. This image is too yellow on my android tablet and fine on my iPhone. I am sorry if I offended you but I think you are having buyer's remorse. Yes Fuji has great colours in jpeg but maybe you would be better off with the A7. your problem with the two photo you presented had nothing to do with bad colours. you just weren't close enough. I was being sincere and didn't mean to offend you and I won't say another word.
just buy it back (or rather X-T1).Fuji colors - without even trying - jpegs. Skin colors in particular. It might help if you could share an image with the kind of colors you wanted.
I agree. Compared to the canon 5d mk2 the sony colors are very neutral - no blooming of the reds etc.. I do copy work so this is pretty critical. I'm very impressed.to my eyes the fuji colours look very contrasty and saturated while the sony colours seem more neutral, it all come to preferences imo.

I like most things about my Sony A7r, dear exdeejjjaaaa, as I pointed before in another thread, from how it handles in my hands, to ability to use Flash Xsync in FP mode, and everything else. I love the picture quality and sharpness and detail I am getting.just buy it back (or rather X-T1).Fuji colors - without even trying - jpegs. I like the 36MP ff files, handling and other things about A7r, and I am not ditching the A7r.If you are using LR5, are you using the lens profile for the 55/1.8? It is off by default. Typically I will add some contrast and some saturation to the raw file. Usually WB is fine, but depends on the lighting. Really only takes a couple of slider movements to get something I like.
Some of the Fuji files I like, others look a bit over-saturated to me but ymmv. If you really like the Fuji jpgs, then ditch the A7r and get an XT1 - unless you really need a 36MP FF file.
Every new camera system takes a bit of getting used to, but I've liked Sony color from the start.I've had the A7r for about a week and a half. I am still trying to figure out how to get right colors out of that camera. My other cameras are Nikon D800 and Fuji XE2, although Fuji is for sale, now that I have A7r, can't afford both. However, I am trying to get some life out of the A7r.... With Fuji X line, it is easy, the colors just pop and not much needs to be done. However, with the Sony... I've noticed that when shooting during a day, the colors, and especially skin colors look very dull. as a matter of fact several people noted to me that people look 'dead' on my A7r photos. Especially when it came from other Fuji owners. So I've been experimenting with colors on LR and trying to get colors to pop a little. I know it can be done because I've seen photos of people with 'alive' faces shot with A7, even on Sony's own site.
I'd appreciate some advise on what configuration/s and/or presets to use to get better colors out of the Sony.
Yes, much better. Lots of color and detail and Zeiss and Leica glass. Thanks for the tip.Go look at the A7(r) files from shooters on getdpi.com. They are what pushed me towards Sony.
