I like the way you've used the architecture of the foreground to frame your subject. Deceptively simple composition, nicely done.

Ahhh the master is back!!!

The composition, timing, light and atmosphere, all very deeply and carefully thought about and planned, and yet the result looks so simple and natural. It has the touch of genius and the trademark of you my friend.

Welcome back and please post some more. your work is both a pleasure and an inspiration.

First impression: the blinding effect. Rain and glaring light contrasted with deep shades create an awareness more of an impression of the place than a conception of its objective nature. The triangle of the two flights of stairs and the woman is visually significant and seems to be meaningful, but not a story is told, rather it seems that it is to be made up by the viewer. The woman, though discernibly of our time but somehow archetypal, is not brought closer to the gangway (or construction ladder) of our age; rather she is visually associated with the grand stairs of the palais, as if she could have been, some centuries ago, a female statue on the final column of the balustrade. Similar to L'Année dernière à Marienbad and to the Nouveau Roman in general we see more questions than answers. The objects are facing us with their forms and impressions, but the world they display to us is not an interpreted whole but rather a disintegrated or not yet integrated aggregation of individuals. Full of impressions and most impressive.
