Sony selling snake oil (lenses) for A7r

It's a bit funny to compare to Canon in this thread, when you can't use their APS-C lenses on their full frame cameras at all.
That's why they have their own line, their own series name, are grouped differently, and different pricing. Does anyone expect M43ds sensor size lenses to work on medium format? I don't think its the same issue at all.

The A7r suffers from stabilization-related "shutter shock" when using certain third-party lenses with IS enabled (test here). I compared the A7r and A7 side by side and don't see the issue on the A7, even when the A7's electronic first curtain shutter is disabled. So one theory has been Sony disabled OSS on certain e-mount lenses for the A7r/A7 firmware because those lenses might also exhibit stabilization-related blur issues if OSS were enabled.

Yes, firmware up to date.

Yes there was some -in some cases contradictory- talk. I used the USA web site which stated, and may still do so, that the lens worked. Not my fault they lie.

If that's true, the new lens must have really "special" OSS. No wonder you can't get one...

No, I would say that is a standard oversight.
Multi Billion dollar companies don't get a free ride on "standard oversight" excuse. Soccer moms, maybe. Not companies with teams of lawyers.

Sony has always been a prick of company - from their arrogance about beta tapes in the 80s to proprietary mini discs. Both which failed miserably. Sony will never learn.

You think Nikon and Canon are any better?

I don't see what the fuss in this whole thread is. I posted a link for a page which has all the Sony lens info explained. The fact the OP talked to one arrogant person on the phone doesn't change the fact that the information is out there for anyone who wants to look.
