Flash. I hardly ever use flash and when I do use the pop up flash, which is very rarely, I end up with a massively overexposed image. Of course this due to my preference for natural light. ignorance, reluctance to research and learn to use flash. Having played with the Raynox I quickly realised that flash is important for macro. It's quite a good cheap macro setup that I also use. It gives a good working distance and works well with hot shoe or even popup flash as the lens is quite small for a 135 and doesn't get in the way.
Even with a tripod I struggled. Before I continue I should learn more about the use of flash.I have had good success with mine, but never hand held. A tripod is best, but any kind of support improves things. A beanbag is easy to carry, and will often do in a pinch. And, don't let anyone convince you a "real" macro is necessary, some of my photos with the 150 rival the best I've seen.
That's a nice result. I imagine it takes a few frames to get there. The Raynox is quite new to me and I found it quite difficult to use handheld with the 135mm. The depth of field is incredibly shallow even when stopped down to very small apertures but I did manage to get this.
