E-M1 UK Grip offer

Hmm, well I've now had my email claiming we'll all get them this side of Christmas - so I've gone and tempted fate by ordering another battery!

Just took delivery of my grip & MMF3 - this one came via DPD rather than Parcelforce, so I guess they're using whatever courier is available.

First impressions - the grip is nice - though a fair bit larger than the EM-5 grip. It's really not a small camera anymore with the grip on! But it does feel nicely balanced with the 4/3 50-200 on there.

The MMF-3 seems identical to the MMF-2 I already have - it too has a degree or so of movement between the adapter and the lens. This does seem to be an artifact of 4/3 lenses though, as having just tried it, I have the same slop on my 4/3 E-3 SLR! I guess the u4/3 mount is just a whole load tighter than 4/3 ever was...

I haven't had the E-3 and E-M1 side by side before, and TBH, the A/F on the 50-200SWD on the E-M1 seems just the same as on the E-3 - not great, but not terrible. It really brings home just how amazing the u4/3 lenses are!

I hope everyone else still waiting gets their grips soon!

That's good news, it at least proves deliveries are (slowly) getting through. I'm still waiting. :-(

Just to let other people still waiting for delivery know that I spoke to Olympus on 23rd December saying I was still awaiting the free grip and 43rds adaptor after pre registering my Em1 ordered on 9th November. They said they would chase it up that day. True to their word I received both grip and adaptor this morning.

Hi Lindsey. Used the 00800 6710 8300 Number to contact Olympus. They just needed my name and address.

good luck. Steve

Shameless bump.

Any news?

If there isn't any, I will use the contact number and post the response. I am loath to call if the outcome - say, 'guaranteed by the end of the month' - is already generally known.

The startling thing about this whole business is that there has been no communication from the company handling the process at all. I have been waiting 2 months.

Nice to know that I am not alone. This must be proof positive that claims are not being dealt with in date order, though.

Finally, I contacted Olympus (00800-671-08500) today about the non-appearance of my battery grip and MMF-3 and, by chance, the consignment arrived - rather indifferently packed - about 2 hours later.

For reference, I sent my documentation off to Germany on 11th November.

The scheme does appear to work, then, but it is extraordinary that a goodwill gesture should be so mishandled. The delay I could understand - though I would have been annoyed if I'd only owned FT lenses - but why no communication? At all? Ever?

I received my items very promptly after telephoning Olympus, and explaining to them that I had sent my receipt in the first week of October. Clearly they are not being dealt with in date order but in a more random fashion. It seems that if you telephone they will add you to a priority list. The person I spoke to at Olympus did apologise for the manner in which this promotion has been poorly handled. So you will get your products, but you do need to phone in and remind them that you are still waiting.

The products themselves are very nice, very good quality.
