You're right, I've never used the SD9 software - but I've read that it's great.Another thing that you forgot on your list - probably because you
havent had a chance to try it - is the software. Made by Foveon -
Thanks..I admire you. Really. You enter the lion's den with all claws drawn.
Hmm...Read that analogy carefully.
I'm only answering OP in this case.. I'm not coming over to the lion's den. I come to this forum for fun and entertainment. Canon gets boring; naturally it's a much larger group which is somehow less interesting. You have to understand that our prorities are different from yours.
When you come over and preach Canon, it is like a vegetarian going
into the Lion's den and telling him how bad it is to eat meat
(except the lion has the claws in this case). Get the lion angry
and he will eat you!
OK. You can choose to trust Pop Photography if you like; personally I value Phil Askey's and my own experience and opinion the most.i have to disagree with you on 4 items: low noise, focus speed, low
light capability and price. please see pop photography june issue.
just my 10cents opinion.

I understand fully that people have different priorities. That's
why I say that if you want great 3Mp images and are willing to
sacrifice a few things in an effort to acheive that, then the SD9
may be a good fit for you.
And my wife is a strict vegetarian (not quite vegan though) and I'm
a full on meat-uh-tarian; we get along just fine, actually great!

But not because she's a veg. She's got a way different personality and does what makes her happy. I do what makes me happy and when it comes to food that means eating bloody red meat.Do you find that your wife has more energy than you?:Þ Is it
easier for her to wake in the morning? Does she seem like the
Energizer bunny around the home? smiles sweetly
They have. We Canon compact shooters have been using alternate software for years. I normally use "Cam4You", a nice freeware program by Hans-David Alkenius.I HAVE used the Canon software and it is a g*ddamn joke. What a
piece of sh1t. I bought Capture One LE which is fantastic but cost
me an extra $100.
Canon makes a great camera, but should leave the software up to
somebody better.

And yours are aliased which is something as a DSP dabbler that I cannot stand.Compared to a Foveon image they are.Youre images are
anti-aliased (blurred) in the camera.
Hi Steve - again! You just don't give up, do you. Still on the same old tack that you are superior to all of us poor SD9 users because you chose a Canon.OK. You can choose to trust Pop Photography if you like;

--Steve
Where did I claim superiority? I think all along I've stated that I have my opinion as does everyone else; that the SD9 wasn't my choice but it's been a happy choice for some others. Why are you attacking me; I don't see where I threatened you?Hi Steve - again! You just don't give up, do you. Still on the
same old tack that you are superior to all of us poor SD9 users

I've been saying this for a long time.. c'mon..Just face up to it and realise that whatever you think, we think
differently.
I'll keep posting whatever I want here, thank you very much. When someone posts a question like the OP of this thread, I'm going to answer, no matter what forum it's on. The OP's question applied DIRECTLY TO ME.I really wish you well but please do not keep on
trying to tell us that we are somehow inferior to you and that you
know best about what we need. Believe what YOU like and give us
credit for knowing what we prefer - that's a good chap!
--Hi! I'm fairly new to the DSLR world, but have been doing lots of
homework the past week. I'm on the fence between the SD9 or the
Canon 10D. I've read a lot of the forum postings, reviews and
spent about 15min on the phone earlier with Sigma. Just thought
I'd see if anyone recently went through this process as well and
what was the final selling point. Thanks!
