Looked thru post and manul but cannot seem to find how one would adjust the focus point. Recall on a post or one review someone had stated was difficult to change on RX10 and that once you took a photo had to go back into the menu to readjust for next shot.

I own a RX100 and wondering if RX10 focus point selection works same?

When using in autofocus mode in RX10 can you readjust focus point in video?

Also have a new Lumix G6 that I am checking out and may return and get a RX 10 but really do like the touch screen functionally for focus area and point selection the G6; know you cannot do touch screen the RX10 and could live setup like the RX100. Would prefer to have both my cameras have same menu system and basic function button layout as I find going from camera to the other a bit confusing.

Thanks!

Solution
To move the Flexible Spot:
  1. Select the Flexible Spot focusing mode in the Focus Area menu. I have set this to the Down Button to call it up quickly.
  2. Optional: You can change the size (S,M,L) with the Right/Left Buttons or the upper thumb dial.
  3. Press Center Button to OK the selection of Flexible Spot. The Flexible Spot will now glow red.
  4. Move the spot around with Up/Down/Left/Right Buttons or the thumb dial/wheel.
  5. Press Center Button (or Shutter Button) to finalize focus position.
So to quickly move the Flexible Spot, I press Down, Center, then move it around. Only one more button press than the RX100. I first tried assigning Focus Area to the Centre Button so I could double click it, but decided to put something...

I first tried assigning Focus Area to the Centre Button so I could double click it, but decided to put something else there that couldn't be assigned to the R/L/D Buttons so instead I put Focus Area on the Down Button. Once you get used to it, it's quite quick to enable.

Also the Lock-On AF works quite well. It seems much more useful than the Tracking Focus was in the RX100. I set the AF to C-AF with the lever on the front, and enable Lock-on AF: On (Start w/shutter). Then when I AF on something, focus tracking kicks in and the C-AF keeps that subject in focus even as it moves about the screen and closer/further. This mode is getting even more use than the Flexible Spot and Centre Spot for me. And this is coming from a life-long center focus/recompose type of shooter!

I'm also the rx10 user and it's bugging me so much about quick access to flexible spot. So I figured out that if u set the CENTER BUTTON to standard. If your camera is already on flexible spot focus : you can just press center button one time to access it. I always move my focus point every time I shoot picture on my full frame camera and I knew sony would not let us press the button twice to access this handy feature. So I did some research and I found your post and I followed your steps, then I figured out the STARDARD setting which is so obvious but I couldn't see. If u already know that, I am sorry for wasting your time. Thank you.

Great tip thank you! You just made my day.

Great tip. Thanks for sharing it.

Yeah, great tip. Made me move my Lock On Focus, from my center button like it is on the rx100 tracking focus, up to my C button. Now, I just have to remember how to do this.

I have been puzzled for over a year over the meaningless differences between the rx100 menu and the rx1 menu, introduced at the same time. Now, we see the rx10 do things a 3rd different way, for NGDR.

I now think it is the mindset within Sony, Pro for RX1, point and shoot for rx100, and now semi-pro for the RX10. I found the RX10, a Cybershot, in the separate Pro Camera gear section of Sony's NYC Headquarters Store, with all the other Cybershots in the other store on the other side of the building entry.

Scenes, in rx100 has Fireworks, but RX10 does not? WTF. As Ming says, "Fall on your Sword".

Follow-up question: Is there a quick way to snap to the center when you're using Flexible Spot? I haven't found a way to do this in the RX or any of the other Sony cameras I've owned.
