I just got a DP3M delivered from amazon.de - it is new and the price was right. Unfortunately the sensor has a big dust speck on it :-(

Obviously I can return the camera, but if there was a way around it I would prefer avoiding the hassle. It can be seen till about f:8.0 or thereabout.

Is there a magic word to utter, a dance to perform or something else, that can remove dust from the DPM-series of cameras? The lens seems pretty air tight so I reckon it would not do any good using a vacuum cleaner with a nylon sock over it (if I dared doing so that is…).

Has anyone a notion of the DP3M being more prone to dust on the sensor out of the factory or collecting it later on?

It is the second fixed lens camera I buy from amazon.de in two months that has dust on the sensor, so I feel mildly cursed… The other was a Fuji though.

The only option is to return it. Unless you want to batch spot repair on every image that comes from it.

I had the same problem on dp2s. This is a big headache! Between sensor and filter gasket is the rubber, if it is not accurately fit then randomly dust comes on the sensor!

I would return it as it is under warranty. If it were out of warranty, you could learn to live with it. If you don't return it, you may regret the decision at sometime down the road.

Ask to exchange it. Amazon makes that easy, and the next one will probably be fine.

There is nothing you can do, apart from sending it back or keep it with the dust. I would not recommend keeping it. It will keep bugging you.

Should it happen when you are not in a position to return it or after it has run out of warranty, a solution that sometimes works: tape a vibrator onto the camera back, place camera on a hard surface and turn vibrator on, cross fingers.....

Any particular mark you recommend ;-) :-P
