I am using some legacy lenses with adapters on my new E-M1 in manual mode and find the magnify function does not work. Any suggestions?

I assigned one of the two front buttons to this task.
You tap the button once and you'll see a small square on the EVF.
Tap the button again and zoom city.
You tap the button once and you'll see a small square on the EVF.

At least : that's how it works on the E-M5.

Yes, it's on the Fn2 button on the E-M1, as described. That said, though, I have also assigned it to the lower button the front of the camera for an even more convenient access (at least for me).

I have assigned the front two buttons on my E-M1 to Focus Peaking and Zoomed Image for MF.
