Wedding images with the Nikon 58mm f/1.4

Like all except 14, 15 and 16. Maybe the 85 might have deemphasized her nose. Other than that great shots. Sorry just remember my early days trying to use the 50 1.4 for tight portraits and exagerating the nose and ears.

I did use a longer lens, these were for testing the lens and showing a variety at mostly f/1.4.

Great job on the photos! Maybe its just me but that bokeh makes me dizzy. :-|

Nice day time shots but were there any night shots?

Isn't this lenses supposed to replace the Noct-Nikkor 1.2 - to eliminate or better control Comatic aberrations when shooting wide open at pointed light sources ?

There are some night shots @flickr.com. Sagittal coma (flare) is very well controlled wide open. Purple fringe is very visible @f/1.4 and is gone @f/2.8 just like with the Noct-Nikkor.

If you want night time images with very low/not visible CA it doesn't matter if you got a Zeiss Otus f/1.4 (lenstip.com CA review) , a Noct-Nikkor AI-s or the Nikkor 58mm 1.4G, you need to stop down to f/2.8 or f/4.0. Most other lenses still need 1-2 stops more for the same CA free image.

At least for me the Nikon 58mm 1.4G replaced my "young" Noct-Nikkor (1997 production year).

btw. the Noct-Nikkor is an MTF underdog too. But infinity sharpness and 3d-look are not measured with MTF50 metrics.

That begs a few questions then - what is it about the Noct that has made it a legend?

And, how far removed is the 58mm from the qualities that made the Noct a lengendary lens?

Very very nice! Great composing, colors, sharpness...! You are so talented! This lens is very special.
