New nx vs old for portrait photography

I just received my Samsung 85mm and I'm planning to experiment some portrait photography (both with studio and natural light).

Considering that I'm not gonna shoot anything above ISO 400, I wonder how much improvement I would get with say nx300 over my good good old trusty nx10 (with nx11 firmware). Would the higher MP count give more clarity in the eyes, for instance ?

Does anyone have an an experience to share ? Thanks in advance.

clarity is combine of good post-process, focus, and exposure. higher MP is for crop use big picture printing. big advantage of NX camera is fun of use and easy because of focus peaking, focus tracking , and others. to be sure of what is nice of nx300, maybe try one in shop before buying? possible to try?

I'll look for a place where to try nx300. I really wonder how the 85 and 60 will balance on such a smaller body. Hopefully the nx20 successor will be announced soon and I will have an alternative choice...

Though I have an NX300 already, I bought a second hand NX11 specially for my 85mm. NX300 with the 85mm is just a little bit too awkward to hold, and the NX11 with the 85mm is very handy.

NX300 has better ISO and a better dynamic range, but I think you won't notice the difference.

I use both the NX11 & NX20. I can always see the difference in sharpness and clarity from the NX20 files.. The NX11 produces reasonable results but IMHO is very 'soft' straight out of the camera and needs considerable post processing. The NX20 produces very good jpegs at 100-800 ISO which don't always need tinkering with the RAW file.

Softness is often required in portraits. Mamiya used to produce a 'defocus' adaptor in the medium format film days as their lenses were judged 'too sharp' by some portrait specialists. The rest of us used to either breath on the lens or make up a light gel filter and shoot through that!

I had the NX11, now the NX210 and soon the NX300. I believe the jump from the NX10/11 to NX300 is worthwhile due to the sensor and processing engine upgrades alone. The straight out of camera JPGs from NX300 is reported to be better than previous NXs.

(The jump from the NX11 to NX210 itself was already worthwhile for me.)

Don't know about the newest NX Galaxy - that's too pricey for my taste to even try.
