Ebay experts, HELP

Hello all especially ebay experts,

I need your help desperately. I am writing something that isn't related to camera but I saw many times Ebay questions were discussed here so don't get mad at me

Here we go. I have been Ebayer for a while and been getting pretty good result with my transactions. Recently I wanted to get a Toshiba laptop and won the auction from a Ebay store called "LiquidationUniverse". The seller has about 700+ feedbacks with pretty good reputation in laptop business. His policy was to send money order first and wait for 30 days for the laptop to deliver. If laptop doen't arrive he gives money back with extra $100. Then recently he got many negative feedbacks from users and then he got suspended from Ebay. I called the company immediately and noone's answering the phone. I sent emails but no reply.

What should I do? I will report to Ebay when time is over 30 days. What else can I do? Any suggestions?
Any advise will be welcome.

Sounds like they have vanished. If they have been suspended from Ebay, and not answering the phone, I don't think you are doing anything wrong by walking away from the deal. If it was me, I would act NOW, (as in TODAY) - in thirty days it will be waaay to late to get your money back.

You can reverse the charge if you used PayPal. Even if they have already claimed the money on the other end. Again, contact PayPal ASAP.

Or, if you used your credit card, just call the credit card company and cancel the payment. They have a form you must fill out to explain the situation, but they will work for you.

If you used cash payment, you're probably out of luck.

As soon as the seller is suspended, you KNOW you have a massive problem on your hands.

Sending money and waiting 30 days is a joke!

It always amazes me how sane people manage to talk themselves into these crazy deals. I hope it works out for you, but it doesn't look good...

Hope you can get your money back but for a quick "heads-up" remember folks that the 700+ pos feedback rating may well have applied to that seller BUT the seller's account may have been hijacked by a scam artist.

ID hijacking on Ebay is rife. One way to tell if the ID has been hijacked is if the ID has say 100 pos feedbacks BUT the ID has only ever BOUGHT and never SOLD. Look at the type of goods or recent transactions - small items such as books, videos, clothes, ornaments etc followed by 30 laptops for sale doesn't ring true!

Caveat Emptor everyone - and remember "if it looks too good to be true....."

Looks like their web site is down too.

Check with the place you got your money order to see what you can do.

Also check with the company's post office in Salt Lake City and see if they may be holding mail and perhaps your check is there.

I wouldn't wait 30 days to report to Ebay.

1.File a complaint immediately with http://www1.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp
2. Try stopping payment on M/O
3. File complaint with ebay
4. Save any correspondence concerning the purchase, emails, etc..
5. If you mailed the money order with USPS contact them to file mail fraud also.

Why in gods name would somebody have a "if you don't receive your product" contingency? Is it now common place for (legitimate) online retailers to just not ship off items that people order from them?

Would you accept these terms from Amazon.com, or Sears, or any number of reputable companies? I doubt it -- because you would think "huh? send my money and wait 30 days for what?"

Sounds like this seller used the 30 days for two things:

1. get the most naive buyers
2. get the most naive buyers for as long as possible (30 days!)

They have "fraud protection" in theory only. If you try to use it, the process is so complicated, and is designed for failure.

Hope you didn't send too much money.

I only sell on eBay, never buy. I got burned and learned that lesson.

Sorry to be so frank, but you will lose a lot more than your money if you obsess over this.

You could also try calling the police/FBI and reporting the fraud, but they are busy solving bigger problems.

All the "if, then" conditions of this sound fishy to me.

It's like the auction equivalent of a ponzei scheme almost.

I wouldn't buy anything unless the terms are if you win the auction, you get the item sent to you immediately after payment.

Hope you didn't get taken.

The lesson learned is it's better to pay a few hundred bucks more and have a bit of peace and less anxiety about a purchase.
