If you were waiting for Steve's Digicams to post a favorable review, your wait is over!

IMO, Steve's reviews tend to be slapped together in a haste. Steve also says that the camera eliminates CA, when his own pictures and everything else we've seen indicate otherwise. I'll wait for Phil's review before passing judgement.

Steve doesn't rush.

Like lots of us, he just likes cameras. And like any one of us, he's perfectly happy when a camera is capable.

We talk sometimes as if any of these traits in a camera are absolutes, when in fact, you can create the same problems even in the F717.

The V1 is a Cyber-shot, and it will respond like most Cyber-shots.

Would everyone poohoo him then and say his reviews are not valid?

Unfortunately, the

http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/sony/dsc_v1-review/index_pfv.shtml review includes "Drab colors in photos, noise levels higher than I'd like; some purple fringing".
--It appears to me they have some problems on this site. Look at other site's and here in the forum they are much better samples than this place. Like I said before it looks like they must work for Canon.

I get the sense I'm swimming in a sea of sharks who won't take any bashing of their beloved baby.

Out of all the digcam review sites, Steve's site is the last site I would put my faith into. That's just my opinion. Steve's site has reviews of cameras sometimes before the other sites even announce them. He doesn't have standardized tests to back up his conclusions. IMO, his reviews are really more summaries of the camera's features. And yeah, it bugs me when he says there is no CA in the camera when his own sample V1 pictures show otherwise. How can you put faith in a site like that?

I'm not trying to diss the camera. Personally I'm hoping the camera WILL be a good one so I can get it. But I'm also expecting a bit more, especially given the price the V1 will be selling for. I don't want something that will takes pic just on par (or poorer) than my S45. For $400 more than I paid for my S45, I want something that will take better pics than my S45. This is even more important given that I know the V1 memory will cost me more, and that the V1 battery life will be very poor. I don't want something with excessive CA either. If that's the case, I might as well pick up a cheapo Olympus camera.

I don't think I'm asking for too much.
