There is a tool for K20D raw files that was made by GordonBGood. It removes the magenta cast in Raw files. before demosaics. so the files are easy to use with any K20D supporting raw processor.
I use it all the time!!!

try this post. it contains a link to the tool

Time moves on considerably lower noise, massively more resolution and incredibly faster K3.

Amazing how technology has improved in only 5 years.

True that.

I just thought even though there is more noise the sample I provided is pretty darn good in real life for that ISO level on a camera that is 5 years behind in tech :)

Much thanks!

Are you using Topaz DeNoise 3 for banding removal? It works great too.

One thing I noticed with my new K20D though, is that it doesn't band like my other K20D did. That's a big plus!

Not that surprising the k20d was 18 months ahead of its time and kick started rapid development of the better Sony sensors.

We have a lot to thank Samsung/Pentax for.

Really interesting how PP has developed looking at my CS2 processed k20d images your getting 6400 better than my 1600 from 2008/9

Yeah Sony keeps a very watchful eye on Samsung. I saw it happening in person before my eyes when I was meeting with Sony on a very semi regular basis.

Yep processing, especially ACR and plugin's really helping matters. I don't consider myself a software guru though by any stretch of the imagination however. I know enough to do what I need and about nothing more! LOL

I too think that that's pretty good for the K20d but my K-7 cries when it sees the k-3 files

The photo looks good at web size and shows less noise than I would have expected enlarged.

The true test of high iso though is surely low light images? I mean, who would normally use high iso in normal light?

Any idea about how bright the image was originally and what software was used to process the raw image?

So THAT'S how Brussell's sprouts grow?!? I never knew and kindasorta wondered... like tiny heads of cabbage on a long stem -- and you can buy 'em pre-roasted like that?????

Oh, by the way -- you got THAT picture @ ISO6400 on a K20D???

Man, I didn't think they had that sort of quality on ANY digital cameras at ISO6400 that long ago!

In the world of electronics Sony are tiddlers so snapping @ Sony heels is no size indication and isn't true Samsung are bigger than Sony by some margin.

Big player are

Matsushita

Siemens

But I suppose if your limiting yourself to 'Consumer Electronics' the big boys are

1Samsung

2Hewlett-Packard (HP)

3Sony

4LG

5Toshiba

With both Nikon and Canon in the top 20

Pentax got very close to 'hanging with the big boys' till the Samsung partnership soured with the Hoya takeover.

My wife always finds stuff like that. Yeah I said the same thing :) Not pre-roasted but you could roast them like that if you were so inclined :).

It's not too shabby. My K50 however would look even better. The K20D wasn't known for 6400 ISO work at all back then. Guess my point being that if you expose correctly and process correctly older gear can be a better value than previously thought.
