Good morning everyone. I purchased a few days ago the Samsung NX1000 . This is my first digital mirrorless and being in a very attractive offer , I decided to buy it . For many weeks I was undecided whether to purchase the NX300 , which I consider much higher , but also saw the much higher price , I decided to take NX1000 with whom I have a tablet and a free extended warranty for another 2 years . This offer is 299 € in Italy . For the price I paid I would have taken only a small compact digital camera but since I wanted to get better I decided to upgrade to a better camera . Before buying I have documented and checked the quality of the images. Image quality and cool features . The only thing that disappoints me a little is the speed of focus and also record photos in the Raw is a bit long . In some situations you feel the lack of an optical stabilizer . Now I will learn to use it by using the many commands that are there but from the pictures I 've made so far am very pleased. I know with certainty that soon I will have to buy additional lenses for different situations and so I wanted to ask for some tips on the different types of models recommended . Probably in a few months will pass to a higher model of the camera ( or other NX300 buying the body only) but I would be sure that these objectives are also suitable for new cameras .
thanks

Yes, I think all the NX objectives are suitable to new NX cameras. ( Unless samsung announce a FF mirrorless...) Talking about slow focus and lack of Optical Image Stabilization, that's due to your 20-50 kit lens, not the camera itself. Most of the NX lens are good, especially considering the ideal price. So just think about your purpose and buy the most suitable one.

Welcome and congratulations on your purchase.

I'm using the Samsung NX300, and I'm having a great time with it. As for the lens, in my opinion almost all Samsung lens are very good and cheap if you compare with the counterparts of Sony and Fuji. Right now I have the 18-55 (which is a very good zoom for its price - much better than the one of Sony), the 50-200 (also very good), the 16 f2.4 small, fast and with very good quality, I am receiving today the 30 f2. Then you have the 45 f1.8 for portraits, the 60 f2.8 macro (good also for portraits), the 85 f1.8 considered the best one. You also have a good wide zoom 12-24. I read that the 18-200 zoom is not that good. My next purchase will be the 60.

I'm also from Italy - Rome.

Un abbraccio

Congratulations to Your decision to try the NX1000.

Only a few tweaks and following lenses made me happy:

The 45 mm is sharp (even wide open) and fast in every regard and delivers a really nice bokeh:

F 1.8

The 12 - 24 mm is sharp and is fast focussing (a single shot example with 4704 px width):

(but it is not that rugged)

However,

it is important to use either ACDSee Pro, or Lightroom 5.x to get really good results.

Following two tweaks were also important for me:

1. a additional thumb rest (a little bit of felt near the record button)

2. a better non reflecting screen cover, because strong sunshine isn't the funniest place for the screen of the NX1000 in regard of reflections...

Thank you all for the answers. I will consider your advice. But my question was a little different. Maybe I expressed myself badly but was wondering if all the lenses you can buy for the Samsung NX series over time can be used only with Samsung products, or, with adapters, can also be mounted on other digital cameras from other manufacturers?. thanks

Ciao Patrisilva...un abbraccio anche a te.

Of course only samsung cameras. Maybe you can use them with an adapter in the future, but probably no autofucus and nx lens don't have aperture ring… So gernerally, NX cameras only I'm afraid, otherwise I think most of the nex user will buy samsung lens rather than their own lens:)

According adaptibility...

...it is easy to adapt other lenses to NX mount (I adapted Canon and Sigma lenses), but the other way round...

...hmmm?

-

Meanwhile I have accepted, that there is not one camera system that satisfies all my needs...

...so I "simply" use the best lenses with a suited body and take this combination with me - no thought about leaving a system with a beloved lens.

-

However, it is Your decision.

I could accept to use the NX 1000 only with the 45 mm,

or the 12 - 24 mm attached - as long as the camera / lenses live...

...and add another lens / camera combination if necessary.

Welcome to another Italian NX user :) We are a few...

Can you tell me, in practical terms, the difference between the 20-50 lens that I have on NX1000 and NX 30mm Pancake Lens F / 2.0? Basically what I could do with 30mm NX Pancake Lens F / 2.0 I can not do with the 20-50mm?

Hmmm,

I think it boils down to about a 2 stop low light advantage,
which can be a lot if used hand held, at available light photography.

I would say, You get an advantage in low light (indoor) situations,
where one can not or should not use a flash or tripod.

If I would have to choose between the two, I would probably take the zoom,
because of the bigger versatility...

I too am debating on getting the 30mm lens. I like the idea of the 45 since it is quicker to autofocus and takes better portraits, but I really like the size of the 30mm for practical everyday use. I like to carry as small a camera as possible. Also many of my pictures are indoor family type of shots. 30mm seems a better focal length indoors. While this camera does give better low light performance, I worry about low light autofocus. I can only afford one lens or the other at this point!

very satisfied with the quality of the picture of Samsung NX1000. Take photos with 20 m.pixels and then view them on a monitor lcd 1600x1200 you lose image quality. What lcd monitor recommended and what the resolution to see the photos well done?

A modern LED 23" monitor should give you 1920x1080 pixels without costing too much.

I tried to see the pictures on a screen 24 "with Horizontal Resolution 1920 Vertical Resolution 1200 Brightness 300 Dot pitch: 0.28. The visual result is much higher and confirms the quality of the photos of the NX1000.

This evening I went to see a show. For photos taken without a flash I was very happy. The lights were not very high. I used the manual setting at 1600 ISO with exposure time to 1/20. To avoid any blur I set the shutter to 3 frames per second. To reduce the recording speed I set the size of photo 10 mpx. The result of the picture quality was satisfactory for me. I'm rather disappointed by the quality of video; during video recording I hear background noise coming from the car, it seems that every time that focuses records these noises. When playing these movies on PC these noises you hear very well. This is a problem that you have encountered or is related to incorrect settings?
