What's the USD equivalent? We are in excess of $4000 in the UK inc VAT

This won't worry you lads from the States, but just got an email from my camera supplier in Perth wanting to know if I wanted to pre-order the DF. I nearly died at the price $3,488 - can you believe that? They must think I am mad. I would much rather get a used D3x for that price. I will certainly be sticking with my D700 now that I know the price. Anyway - it has no built-in flash so that was the deal-breaker for me.

I better not hear you lads from the States complaining about the price - come over here if you want expensive.

i got that same email and was also a little taken back as well, i unsure if the body only will even be a option over here (in Aust).

at $34XX its basically a deal breaker for me, i have a a7r on pre order, at the right price nikon would have my coin but currently its just a long shot

Nikon could have sold a boat load of these if they were priced right and had a better manual focusing aid...but as it is I cant see many drifting from the shelves in Aus, some will buy it..but for me Im looking even closer at the EM1 now ...

Sub $3500 is what my dealer reckons...i was really hopping for this and the new 58 together but at this price and maybe close to 2k for the 58 I think I'll give both a miss and keep saving for one of those long lenses.

The comment is part accurate, and may be part inaccurate.

USA advertised prices do not include taxes because they vary by city and state.

UK (and I assume Australia) advertised prices include taxes so comparisons without a tax adjustment are part apples and oranges, especially as the UK tax rate is 20% on a body.

Specific to UK, Nikon usually launch at higher than USA after tax adjustment, but discount more sooner with often eventual lower than USA prices.

The Sigma 120-300 F2.8 sport lens for $2885 is looking pretty good

shame, although prices have a history of coming down, eventually. Puts me on hold as well.

...wait 6 months and this camera will be around $2K....and even then i wont buy it...manual focus was my priority and they couldn't get that right.

That's just a quarter of a rip-off.

Because then you have the half rip-off, which is the EUR price and then have the full rip-off, which is the price in GBP.

$2749 = £2749 !?

Poor lads.

Say, what a coincidence!

The X-E2 does have manual focus aide, has a retro look, it is priced right, oh, I hear it has a REALLY good built-in on board intelligent flash, and guess what, a really good lens is included for $1200 dollars :-)

I think Fuji is going to sell A LOT of those.

A$3245 body only & A$3575 with the 50mm F1.8 - pricey. You can pick up a D610 for A$1995. I think I will pass on the Df.

$3245 less GST equals $2950, which at today's exchange rate is US$2802 - seems only about $50 more than their advertised price in the US to me.

Cheers
Bureaucrats think like that, it is still $3245 Aussie dollars.....this camera will not move in Australia....dribs and drabs they say, and the reason why is that aussies are a lot more logical when it comes to electronics of which cameras come under in surveys.

Nikon wont shift Fuji or Sony on this.
