I flew from my home city, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, to Hong Kong via London. I stayed in Hong Kong for three weeks and organized my visas for China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand; after which I'll be heading to Malaysia, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, the Philippines, South Korea and Japan, until I expect to return home sometime late next summer or early autumn 2014. It's my first real adventure with my new expedition bicycle. I try to only stay with locals whenever possible, either via CouchSurfing.org, WarmShowers.org, or by simply asking people, if I could stay over for a night; I hardly ever get invited to stay over by people unexpectedly, which is something that I consider a huge treat. I went on a three-month bicycle holiday to Israel from April through July this summer (with my old bicycle and primitive gear), just to find out whether I could really trust myself to pull off something like this. Apparently it's working...

I chose flickr to upload my travel photos to. I'm travelling with my Sigma DP3M, DP2s and Nokia 808 PureView; even though I had initially also taken my Polaroid X530 with me... foolishly; I sent it back home for the attick, together with a bunch of other redundant things that I packed together in a rush, since I was really late for my flight... I just feel like kicking myself for even letting it get that late in the first place...

So here's the link to my flickr albums: http://flickr.com/photos/99825373@N03/sets

I just uploaded a load of photos that I took in Yangshuo and when hiking in XingPing with folks from the English College there.

You could also take a look at my Israel and Hong Kong photos, if you like; the DP3M folder, which contains mainly uncurated photos from the summer time in Frankfurt and some photos of me and my new bike in the Taunus mountains, which was really about taking the DP3M for an initial ride and finding out what I can do with it. I still feel totally incompetent in regards to making good use of the DP3M. I'm a total amateur with low expectations of ever getting better, really.

I wonder what comes to your minds when you look (or even study :) my photos.

Take a lash!

Best regards,

Well my Polaroid X530 is on the way back from China to Germany via snalemail, and that means about three months until it gets there. I could ask my mom to send it to you. I had bought a 1GB SD-card specifically for use with the X530, but I couldn't find it any longer. Anyway, I consider the X530 kind of an Instagram-Foveon-Camera; at least I find the photos to look very instagramish. Perfect for some creative social networking stuff; or for a slow-paced approach to simple photo-taking, I guess. I only bought it last summer when it sold brand new in Germanyfor 25 EUROs and because it's such a nice Foveon-sensor-equipped photo-taking "artifact";)

And a quite awkward camera that still manages to take very nice photos, sometimes...

I used it for a couple of hundred photos but I have to admit, I would rather get impressed the expected results of a SD1M combined with the nice new Sigma f4 universal zoom from the "Art"-series.
