I wonder who will be the first major review site to announce positively that the D610 fixes the dust/oil issues of the D600? So far, they are all waiting for the other guy to jump in with both feet on this question. I know that "Photography Life" did a test ,but the big guys don't seem to want to touch this with a ten foot pole. It's like the gorilla in the room.

I for one is waiting on user reviews on this issue. I hope it gets here soon...I need a FF camera by 1st week of December. Right now, its either the D610 or the DF...I need it for the Banzai Pipeline.

I don't see a major review coming. The D600 has already been reviewed, and aside from the shutter issue, it's basically the same camera. You might see a blurb here and there on the major review sites, but most of the feedback on the camera should come from the users that bought them. This might take some time while the new camera is dispersed and customers have had time to put some good use to them.

Not thinking about getting D610, but by next year I might get tempted....and there will be enough actuations out there...for me to make up my mind.

Well, while all or most of the sites testing the d600 gave the camera a great overall review, they also published that the camera had the dust/oil and that they hoped, suspected, or felt that the d610 was produced to fix the problem. So, with the sites acknowledging this in print, one would believe that they would be eager to make a judgement on this one way or the other. But, it doesn't seem so, maybe they are and Nikon are depending on peoples' short memories.

well, I received the 610 lest week from Adorama.

Used it this past weekend. To me it is a 600, of which I already have 2.

Same in all respects.

I got great images. Only took about 320 but no oil or dust or malfunctions of any kind.

That's all I can tell you.

If I were in the market for a DSLR such as the D610, I wouldn't hesitate to dive in.

I can't believe that there is anything about the D600/610 body that makes it impossible to design a shutter that doesn't cause such problems. It's not as though every other Nikon model is plagued with similar problems, so I'm quite sure Nikon is capable of rectifying it.

If you want one, just get one.

With your D600s when did you first see the spots (if you did), after how many actuations?

Well, I owned one, (d600),returned it and bought another which I still have. I guess what will be nice if the d610 is the fix for the dust/oil issue, is the peace of mind, that when I go out and take my landscape photos, I can be fairly sure that I won't have a sky sprinkled with dirt spots. So, it's like I said, it's the peace of mind and reasonable confidence that your camera is going to render a good clean image that won't have camera deposited dirt/oil spots on it.

Lens Rentals, as they were the first ones to break the news. I can't remember if DPreview included the debris comments in their initial review or if they added it after going back to check.

i have had NO spots or dirt on my sensors.

I use a sensorscope to examine and have found none at all.
