Is it me or what?

I agree with most of what you said but I'll be adding the e to a mount adapter to have a cheap, high resolution second alpha body as backup or main camera depending in the job.

Having one set of great lenses work natively on 2 format of body has bbeen a holy trail for me!

Oh I am sure these new bodies will be far and away better and more refined than the original N5. I also feel they will be excellent tools but like the a33 and the Nex5 I think these are only launch pads for even better tools to come in the near and distant future.

Graham, I was unaware of Sony declaring the NEX line as dead so I guess I learned something too. But, I am curious as the Alpha series stipulated A mount and these designated A7 and A7r are in fact not A mount but are E mount bodies. It did confuse me when I saw the "A" in the body nomenclature. Guess the definition of A or Alpha has changed
What they said was that the use of the NEX name was done. They seemed to imply that the actual cameras would continue but be merged with everything else under the Alpha name.

That is also why there is no distinct A mount camera line the cameras may or may not exist in the future Sony lineup but whatever it is it will be in the single Alpha name.

It's called creating confusion. Only the future releases will tell us what they are really going to support.
