Hoi!

If you are looking for a telephoto lens of type 70-200, you might want to consider the Minolta 80-200 f/2.8 (this is the white version). Awesome colors and contrast, and very fast AF. For about 1200, it is well worth the money.

This shot was taken using the a900 FF camera (uploaded: 1920 x 1280 resolution, saved as web jpg)

Yes, that lens is superb. Excellent build, fast focusing and outstanding image quality. I used to have one and loved it.

Your sample image is beautiful.

That is a Good shot is that applied Vignetting ? , Quite a Feat for that young Boogie boarder to get up to a knee , Youth has it's perks Good fun shooting and a very nice lens , I have been on the fence with the 400 4.5 Minolta but that one is a wee bit more than 1200.

Marvellous shot! A joy to look at.

This Whitey is an absolute top lens, love it.

Sort of, I added some dynamic contract, but that lens has little vignetting to begin with, and since I shoot only raw, vignetting is a non issue.

Here, I applied some local dynamic contact to make the main subject popped up.

Yes, those kids are amazing while riding the waves.

Yup, it is very good to have one good copy. The AF is very fast on the a900.

Cool shot - I'm still waiting to see what xx-200 f2.8 I should be getting... Hurry up Sony!

The Minolta 200 f/2.8 is apparently very nice. Most likely sharper than the zoom lens I would imagine, but the 80-200 is very sharp in the range 80-180 mm wide open, it is actually quite impressive!

Thanks - neither have warranty any more and that's pretty key for me too, failure is not an option ;)

He he, yes, that's understandable. I think you can get extra year warranty while buying from KEH. But not 100% sure.

You can get a 2-year warranty via KEH; it's a Mack deal (I bought a used CZ 16-35 from them).

Impressive shot, very good shadow/highlight handling in processing!!!!

I've owned both the black APO and APO HS G versions of the Min AF 80-200/2.8 lens and they're equally as good as each other (same optics), though for similar money new from Onestop-Digital, you can buy the Sigma AF 70-200mm F/2.8 EX DG APO OS HSM which is also a wonderful bit of kit, though these can be bought on the used market for half the used Minolta 'going rate' if you look hard enough. Whilst I find these short fast tele-zoom lenses give superb results, 200mm and a useable range of 120mm - 130mm is too restricting for me and I prefer the AF 100-300mm F4 EX DG APO Sigma or Tokina AT-X 100-300/4 which are cheaper still, just as sharp and have a more useable range.

Horses for courses, but nice results nevertheless. Thanks for sharing.
