I probably won't sell or get rid of my D600, but I understand the frustration and it seems there are many owners who have had theirs in for repair more than once and the chamber oil splatter is still there. With that in mind, this must feel like a slap in the face. But then, these kinds of things have happened many times in the past and with every vendor - overly dirty sensors, banding in shadows, focusing issues etc. etc. etc. Nikon have been good about receiving the units for repair, but is that enough? How many times do you have to send it back to get it right?
As an update - I have to say that I initially thought mine was doing great. But after several actuations, I have the splatters again. One good cleaning seemed to get rid of them though. We'll see if they return.
But for me, the D610 feels like a slap in the face - I have a unit that may never be right and therefore unsellable. And even if mine was good, who will buy it? I plan to keep it anyhow, but geez. I guess in the long run, the spots diminish and two or three cleanings isn't a big deal before it does, but still.
What should Nikon do here folks? I think they'll happily replace shutters all day long before they're willing to recall defective D600s.
