Steve posted on his blog photos he just took at Ireland with EM1 and I am blown away. I mean, I've owned Nikon D800 and Canon 5DM3 and I am still blown away knowing they came out of a m43 camera.....especially by the first 3 images.

OK so maybe I do need the 45mm lens.

Not sure how much worse, if at all, the E-M5 would have done, but the shots are a great representation of the great glass that's available. I guess he didn't have the 25mm 1.4 on hand, but the 45mm looks super, and so far all portrait type of shots I've seen with the 17mm (where edge sharpness is not a factor) are just great as well.

Just watched his video. He likes!

Strikes me how much effort & money Olympus have put into the e-m1 launch with this Irish event & other try out dates. Hope it pays off & the system has a long future. I've ordered one & I normally wouldn't dream of paying that much for a camera body.

Thanks for posting these.

Ok, I'll bite. Why should you be 'blown away' by those pics.

??

you don't find detail and sharpness in the first few photographs remarkable for a small sensor like m43?

I'm with Big Ga. These looks fine, but rather flat and workmanlike. Wouldn't an RX100 have produced similar results?

Sorry to say, either you're completely ignorant, or you're a troll. If by now you still believe in the 'small sensor' saga then you are in the first category, and you failed to see that these kind of images are nothing special and possible within m43 for already a long time...

Why would I be accused of being a troll? I've been a member of these forums for over a decade and I own several cameras in different formats including Nikon D600 (full frame) and Fuji X100 (APS-C). I do have EM1 on pre-order and I was excited to see these images. I guess I am ignorant then.

To clarify: I know someone else called you a troll, but I didn't mean to imply anything like that. I know you're good people. I just think we disagree about these shots. ;-)

It must be costing Olympus an absolute fortune to be flying all these people to Ireland and booking that venue - they've been there 2 or 3 weeks now!!

If one isn't blown off their feet tout suite (sp?), well. . .

But these are fine examples of fine detail and isolation of subjects. The real proof comes when we handle such things and see whether or not they live up to the hype.

They don't suck. ;)

I am sorry but what is so amazing about those photos?
It's best not to be too positive or too negative in this forum.... otherwise you will get called out on the carpet for being a fanboy or a troll..... However, I too am excited that 4/3's sensor is now good enough.....
