I was curious to seethe diifferences between the G5 and the G3 after seeing the image posted here today on another thread. I had kept a folder full of G3 pics from when i was contemplating buying the G3. Imagine my surprise when I compared the sample pic to the new "G5 in the Brochure". As you can see... same image. Even the angle, shadows, lens reflections, highlights and surface reflections are identical. Someone's being naughty. Might be worthy of a boot in the @$$ for the original poster.

The upside of all this is that there's still room for Canon to produce something worthy. Could the fakers please stop aggrivating us with trash posts?

I don't see why people are getting all worked up over it when the picture is not from any sort of credible sources. Until Canon officially anounces it, I could care less what somebody post on their website.

You have taken the picture of the G5 and edited it to look like the G3! Yes...that must be it! I have found you out at last Marco!

Ahh...hahahahahahahaha....HA! (sound of maniacal laughter)

BANG! (sound of brain exploding from overload of conspiracy theories)

...plop.... (body hits the floor)

Nah! The original posters was just a sucker that fell for a fake pic. No reason to be booted.

What people do need to get past is the G4/5. It's going to be a better G3, not the 2nd coming of [place your savior here]. Grab your G3 (or A40 or whatever) and take some pictures.

Hey... I got a little excited to see some piccies here showing what I assumed were of a legitimate G5. When I realised that it was 100% fake, I felt compelled to notify you guys since so many people here were clearly of the opinion that it was the real thing and were complaining and bemeaning the few new differences. Either way, it's a benefit to you guys who, like myself, are curious to see the next big thing. I'll most likely buy the G5... whatever it looks like, because I need a second Canon Digital that has just a little more oomph than the G3. My s400 is great but I'm still waiting for my replacement since I returned it to Canon several weeks ago. I now see the value in having two Digital cameras.

of course they look the same as the G5 is a bored out G3 with different chip and different label. If I was a dealer i would also make my own G5 picture out of a G3 just so my flyer doesnt look stupid

The flyer was announcing a black micro drive edition and a silver one.

And now, to get everyone’s attention, I announce a red G5 with pink stripes and yellow dots.

What do you think about this black G3 (to add to the confusion...)

And this is a fake for sure, as you easily can see!
I should know, I made it... ;-)

This is nice also. Do you think I just can spray paint my silver G3?

Why should they tell it.

The only clue we have, is the information of the Canon Powershot G5 that appeared on the official Belgian Canon-site a couple of day ago. That information has already been removed so I think somebody at Canon Belgium made a stupid mistake.
I know this is a naieve question, but has anyone ever, like, ASKED
Canon about the release of a G4/G5/G-whatever?

on the plus side, atleast they sharpened it up a bit.

i just don't get why people are into this whole g5 thing. whatever happened to the g4? did that come out and not get discussed to death? was i not here for that?

There was never a picture or reference of a G4 on any sites.....the G5 looks like the next model that Canon may be releasing based on the sites that show pricing, and the questionable camera images that have been circulating lately.

As another poster mentioned, the number "4" signifies bad stuff for a lot of the Asian markets, which is a possible reason it was skipped. Where I live, no highrise buildings have a "4th, 14th, 24th" floor or "04" suites......which makes this theory very beleivable from my standpoint.
