Imagine you could only have one camera...

If not I pick Sony 5n with EVF and Sony Zeiss 32/1.8, Sony 50/1.8, and vintage Nikkor 135/2.8 Ai

Take a picture, it'll last longer.

I already use 7D cameras for most of my shooting, with EF 100mm 2.8L Macro and EF-S 10-22mm lenses. I reckon my 35mm 1.4L could be the third lens. I could live within these limitations for three years, though I would miss having a telephoto for occasional birds.

Here are the rules for this imaginary scenario:

1) You could have any camera (currently available) you want.

2) You could have any three lenses (currently available) you want.

3) You have to shoot with this camera exclusively for the next three years.

What would you pick?
I bought a D5100 with the latest Sigma 18-200, a Nikon 10.5 and a Nikon 40mm Macro

It all fits in a tiny Domke bag and I can carry it around all day

For the lenses I would take the following:

24-70 f/2.8 II (slight chance I would take the 24-105 instead for the range)

70-200 f/2.8 IS II

600 f/4 IS II

Since the restrictions are for the camera and lenses, I would also take the Canon 1.4x TCIII, 2x TCIII, a Kenko DGX 1.4x if I need it to stack teleconverters (I forget if the Canon III can stack in some order or not), and a full set of Kenko extension tubes. These will extend the range of the lenses and allow for closeup shots, though not quite macro. I'll have to do more stitching when possible for wider shots.

I'm sick and tired of big heavy cameras, and bags of lenses. My current Nikon D7000 DSLR, and a few lenses such as the great 85mm f1.4, are gathering a lot of dust these days.

So yeah, I would not choose a big camera, nor "three lenses". I would do away with a bag of lenses, and go for something nimble and small, delivering decent IQ, and which I could always have with me.

Sony RX100 it is.
Indeed, it is...for me.

Sony NEX 7 successor

Sony 24/1.8 Zeiss, Sony 16-70/4 Zeiss, Sony 85/1.8 Zeiss

I could go a lot longer than 3yrs with this setup!!

Rolleiflex TLR only has one lens, I could easily shoot only this camera for the rest of my life...

An inexpensive Canon Digital Rebel body, and these lenses:

Canon 15-85mm

Canon 50 1.8

Canon 70-200 f4 IS

That would do me. But if I had to further decide on a 1 one-piece unit, I'd opt for Canon SX50HS. That would cover about 90% of my needs without a problem.

Henry,

I've heard/seen some very good things about this Oly SZ-30. A good solution....no doubt.
