yes
I discovered another problem with XZ-2.
While i was trying to do a self portrait, i had accidentally touched

the screen with one of my fingers, the shutter would simply NOT function.
This is WITH TOUCH SCREEN DISABLED.

I was puzzled and after a few test, yes,
even with touch screen disabled, if you have one finger

on the screen, the shutter button would freeze.

TOTALLY no function.

GIVE IT a try.

I just tried it on mine. Touch screen disabled, finger on screen, regular shutter worked normally.

Touch screen enabled, tapping on screen caused picture to be taken as it is supposed to.

Very odd that different copies of the XZ2 seem to work differently. I wonder what other people will report.

thats really strange
My firmware is 1.1

What's yours?

i note if you put 2 fingers on the screen ( with touch screen off )
it will shutter ....

Several of us ran across this problem a couple months ago. Don't touch the screen or the camera will lock up! :-)

Thanks very much for all the tips and suggestions. After reading all your comments, I did some more testing and sure enough, it's the touch screen!

I have the touch screen enabled but OFF. If I touch any part of the rear LCD the camera locks up -- the screen still shows a live view but none of the buttons/levers/rings respond. If I move my finger away from the screen, the camera functions normally.

If I turn off the touch screen in the Utility menu, then touching the screen does not lock up the camera.

It would have taken me forever to figure this out on my own -- thanks again to all for your help. While I think this is puzzling behavior, at least it is not random and unpredictable, which was my fear.

P.S. I think this deserves another email to Olympus. I'll post their answer here...."

perhaps you should just update your firmware to v1.2

seems ppl on v1.2 don't have this problem...

YES just tested on mine and don't have this problem :)

It's NOT the firmware version; I have 1.2 and the 'problem' still exists. I don't think Olympus considers this a problem.

If touch-screen is ENABLED but OFF, putting one finger on the LCD will lock up the camera. Putting two fingers on the camera will not lock it up.

If the touch-screen is DISABLED, putting one or more fingers on the LCD makes no difference in the operation of the camera.

Oooops sorry, I got your message wrong... coz never thought I can get touch screen Enabled but Off... :-O

Ya you are right... as long as touch screen is Enabled, a finger on the screen will stop the shutter from working...
