Hello all.

Thanks to the fantastic new price of the NX300 in the UK i've finally bitten and ordered one.

I have a few quesions.

It comes with the 20-50 lens. Is the lack of image stabilisation noticeable? Does it only affect certain situations?

Does the 20-50 come with a lens hood?

I currently have a listing on eBay for my old NX10. Would it be worth stopping that and keeping the 18-55 lens instead for its greater range and OIS? Its the old lens without the i function.

Is either of these lenses particularly sharper/better than the other?

Are there any particular settings in the camera that should be turned on/off when I get it?

Does anyone have any experience using the Samyang 8 or 14mm fisheye lenses on this, particularly for landscapes?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

I have the 20-50 (don't remember getting a lens hood) but never use it so I can't say. I would probably use the 18-55 because of the wider range and OIS, but that is only because I have a few of the "carry" primes Samsung makes so I don't need the compactness of the 20-50.

I do think there is a general feeling that the 20-50 is slightly sharper than the 18-55, but that the 18-55 is more versatile for obvious reasons.

I would definitely turn off the mode switch animations. I forget exactly where it is in the menu, but it takes a lot off the lag out of switching modes.

Exactly the sort of advice that I would never have thought of without an experienced users help. Thank you!

I'd keep 20-50 mm - it's definitely sharper and generally very competent lens.

It doesn't come with a hood but you may buy one here ( I bought a step-up 40.5-52mm ring):

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009GFYB3W/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It works perfectly with mine ( no vignetting and substantial improvement in picture contrast).

Lack of IS on that glass doesn't bother me at all ( it's simply unnoticeable)

I own Rokinon ( Samyang) 14mm f/2.8 and it's an amazing lens. Actually it's not "fisheye" but rectilinear one. There's nominal barrel and mustache distortion, which is expected with that FL and min aperture. You may buy it here:

http://www.amazon.com/Rokinon-14mm-...&qid=1377454307&sr=1-8&keywords=rokinon+fe14m

or - if you want to pay over $100more for a sticker with "Samyang " name on it:

http://www.amazon.com/Samyang-SY14M...&qid=1377454631&sr=1-4&keywords=samyang+fe14m

And here's a sample I took with Pentax version of that lens ( the only difference is the mount and in-camera aperture control thanks to aperture shaft built in the lens) :

Hope it helps.

I've been looking at pictures from the 14mm lenses, looks like it has some amazing results for landscapes!

What is the supplied neck strap like?

Is it worth looking for another? Do 'normal' DSLR straps fit the loops?

If you are not in a hurry. My advice, first receive your camera safely. Then try it. Then after when only you will comfortable with it, go a head and buy everything you want for it to make your new toy even more friendly and better.

Can anyone advise if I should get a polarising filter for the 16mm lens? Will it cause any vignetting or uneven/unnatural colour banding?
