but can be adapted for almost any camera by relying on the hot shoe adapter and using cardboard that fits tight inside it.

you can create your own design and dimensions, make it deeper or shorter, angled or square. And once it wears out it costs next to nothing other than your own time and things around the household to make again

Simple but effective (most of the best things are)....i use delkin for fixed screen, but this seems like a low cost alternative. Thanks for the tip.
 
That's good work! I love DIY camera solutions. Maybe the hotshoe 'plug' could be made from some thick plastic? That way it would take longer to wear out as you might be pushing it in and pulling it out quite often.
 
Nice Idea.
I even thought of having a snap / popper button on a piece of wood/plastic, so you could leave it in the hot shoe and just clip the hood on when needed..

exactly what I was considering when I finished that project. When I saw this on ebay, I couldnt help but think it to be a useful keep-on during sunny day shoots.

Like you said, to modify it with a snap or popper button and simply attach the hood to it when the sun becomes anti-lcd.
